Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited program in Nuclear Medicine with a Bachelor's degree or Associate's Degree.
  • Hold a current New Jersey license in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Complete annual fit testing.
  • Maintain valid American Heart Association certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure correct patient identity by verbally verifying the patient's name and date of birth and comparing the responses with the exam requisition.
  • Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the procedure according to age-specific needs to gain cooperation, minimize anxiety, and optimize results.
  • Position patients according to established protocols or approved physician instructions, using immobilization devices, lead shielding, and collimation as appropriate.
  • Verify informed consent when required for nuclear medicine exams and injections.
  • Prepare and administer proper radiopharmaceuticals to patients in accordance with department policy and state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain records of radioisotope receipts, usage, storage, and disposal in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Order radiopharmaceuticals in the absence of the Chief Technologist as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of clinical nuclear medicine experience.
  • New Jersey state license and current active ARRT or NMTCB certification and registration.
