Automation and Control System Specialist
UK home-based role with 60–80% travel, mostly within the UK; international travel may be required.
About the job
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Solid experience working with industrial control systems, specifically Siemens PCS7 and TIA Portal.
- Hands-on experience with control system integration, HMI/SCADA systems, and field instrumentation.
- Proficiency in control logic development using PLC/DCS and system design.
- Familiarity with industry protocols including Profibus, Modbus, OPC, and Ethernet/IP.
- Strong knowledge of servers, database systems, and data historians.
- Availability for 60–80% travel, mostly within the UK, with potential international travel.
- Required participation in the call-out rota.
- Provide technical support, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting for control systems such as Siemens PCS7.
- Configure and upgrade control systems, including hardware upgrades, software patches, and control strategy improvements.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues involving hardware, software, networks, and field instruments to minimize system downtime.
- Assist in commissioning and starting up new control systems, including hardware installation, software configuration, and system integration.
- Provide customers with training and technical support on system operation, maintenance best practices, and safety protocols.
