About the company

Xerox specializes in document technology and services. It provides printers, copiers, and related document management solutions for businesses, helping them create, store, reproduce, and share documents efficiently. The core technology behind its early products came from xerography, a dry-printing process, which enabled automated copying of plain paper documents. Over time Xerox expanded into services such as managed print and workflow optimization for organizations. The company differentiates itself through a long history of research and development, including the Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), which produced foundational ideas in computing and networking that influenced the broader tech industry, even though Xerox did not always commercialize those inventions itself. Xerox’s goal is to help customers improve productivity and document workflows by providing reliable hardware, software, and services that streamline the way people create and handle information.

Xerox makes its case to the channel.

Xerox makes its case to the channel. By Anne Valaitis, Keypoint Intelligence. Originally published 21 October 2026. Xerox used its recent Partner Summit in Nashville to address a question that has followed the company since the Lexmark acquisition closed. Is Xerox still committed to print and to the channel? More than 500 partners from over 70 countries attended, a mix of longtime Xerox dealers and partners inherited through Lexmark, many of whom are still deciding how much of their business to build around the combined company. CEO Louie Pastor framed the event around the theme "Built to Win Together" and promised partners straight answers. The core message was that integration is giving way to execution. Xerox pointed to a broader portfolio, a service model designed around reliability, a more partner-centered go-to-market approach, and new revenue paths beyond print. Several of those plans are promising, though many rest on company-reported figures and timelines that remain open. A Broader Portfolio Built Around Service Xerox's pitch rests on four ideas. The first is portfolio breadth. With Lexmark, Xerox now covers A4, A3, and production print more completely than before, and it introduced the 7 and 8 M-Series high-end mono A4 line at the event. Executives cited more than $1 billion in investment booked against three to five year roadmaps. Breadth is not the same as share, however. One executive acknowledged that legacy Xerox held only 3% to 4% of the A4 market, and a fuller lineup does not by itself change that position. The second is end-to-end ownership. Xerox now designs, manufactures, sells, and services its devices and argues that this lets it engineer reliability in from the start. Pastor described an ambition to drive service disruptions toward zero through product design, embedded diagnostics, and AI-driven prediction. Executives cited a 50% reduction in service calls on the 9 Series, which has 500 fewer parts than its predecessor, along with device availability of 99% or better and half of service calls resolved remotely. Xerox did not share the baseline or methodology behind these figures. The third is a partner-first channel model. Starting next year, Xerox plans to replace the separate Xerox and Lexmark partner programs with a single program offering full portfolio access and simplified pricing. It is also working to make indirect fulfillment the default for customers outside its named enterprise accounts. Executives acknowledged the transition will not be complete on day one. The fourth is enablement. Xerox outlined a unified partner portal, co-brandable campaigns, an AI-powered seller content tool, and a beta that extends its Writer AI marketing platform to partners. Xerox IT Solutions also introduced a US referral program for cybersecurity and managed IT, in which Xerox bills the client directly, partners receive a share of gross profit, and partners cannot act as the prime contractor. That structure lowers risk for dealers but also limits how much of the client relationship they own. The timing reflects financial pressure as well as opportunity. Xerox raised full-year revenue guidance to approximately $7.6 billion and expects adjusted operating profit to grow by more than $300 million, about $100 million of which is one-time tariff recovery. Net leverage is expected to fall from roughly six times to nearly four times by year end, a level Pastor acknowledged is still too high. With industry estimates showing print declining by 2% to 3% annually, these conditions give Xerox clear reasons to deepen its reliance on the channel. Buying behavior is shifting as well. Marketing chief Darren Cassidy said roughly 70% of buying decisions are now made before a seller is engaged. Xerox reported strong results from routing leads through AI chat and inside sales, though only about 35% of those leads currently reach partners. Cassidy committed to raising that share but did not name a target. For partners, the practical impact starts with the portfolio and the planned single program, which together could remove gaps that previously sent clients to a second vendor. The service story is more complex. Xerox argues that fewer unplanned calls will shift technician time toward installs and upgrades rather than shrink service revenue. Some partners raised questions about that view, and if devices need less service over time, clients will likely expect contract pricing to reflect it. Dealers on the partner panel reported lower parts costs and easier servicing, though the panel was selected by Xerox and reflected early adopters. Several elements also remain in progress. The unified portal reaches distributors in March, but Xerox declined to give a date for the full rollout. Pricing and incentive details for the new partner program were not yet available. Broader digital services for the channel are not ready, IT Solutions is currently US-only, and portfolio unification runs through 2029, which means partners will manage overlapping product lines for some time. The Keypoint Intelligence Perspective The tone of this summit stood out. Separating one-time gains from recurring profit and declining to commit to unsupported dates are reasonable choices for a partner base that has spent the past year weighing its options. Candor about uncertainty, however, is not the same as resolving it. The service strategy appears sound in principle. Owning design and diagnostics gives Xerox a credible path to differentiate on uptime, one of the few areas where workplace print vendors can still separate themselves. The open questions are whether reliability gains will hold across the full installed base, how Xerox will measure and report them, and how the resulting savings will be shared among Xerox, its partners, and their clients. Execution will ultimately shape how partners judge the summit. The move to a single partner program, the portal rollout, and the IT Solutions expansion will be natural places to see Pastor's emphasis on named owners and firm dates in action. Partners would also benefit from more performance data on the 9 Series as it matures, along with greater visibility into how leads will be shared between Xerox's inside sales teams and the channel. The resellers Keypoint Intelligence spoke with at the event remain committed to Xerox, but their support comes with clear expectations. They want to see faster execution, simpler processes, and firm timelines turn into day-to-day improvements in how they do business with the company. Knowledge gaps also remain, as traditional Xerox resellers still need a better understanding of the Lexmark-heritage products and the A4 portfolio before they can sell the full lineup with confidence. The next 12 months will show whether Xerox can deliver those changes for the partners it is asking to invest alongside it. Xerox launching inkjet and toner presses.

Xerox launching inkjet and toner presses. By Wayne Robinson October 2, 2026 Xerox, which is widely expected to re-enter the ANZ market next year, is launching two new inkjet presses, and a successor to its six-colour Iridesse toner press. The company says it is deepening its commitment to production print with an inkjet portfolio spanning cut-sheet and continuous-feed, alongside its new six-colour flagship press for graphic arts. Integrated with the Xerox end-to-end production ecosystem of presses, workflow automation software, media expertise and lifecycle services, the new offerings extend specialty colour and intelligent automation capabilities across the broader portfolio, which Xerox claims will help print providers bring more work in-house, streamline production and pursue new revenue opportunities. Terry Antinora, president, Global Production Print Services at Xerox, said, "We're giving print providers a complete inkjet portfolio, embellishment, intelligent automation, and AI-powered tools that help them grow, differentiate, and win. Everything we're launching is designed to improve customer profitability - not just increase print volume." The new Xerox Proficio Jet CS1100 is a B3 cut-sheet inkjet press that delivers speeds of up to 300 images per minute. New Xerox-developed printheads and a high-definition ink formulation deliver 1200x1200dpi resolution, with 2-bit variable-drop imaging for precise dot placement. A scalable drying architecture supports media up to 350gsm, including coated stocks. According to Xerox the platform 'enables print providers to shift a wider range of work, from transactional and direct mail to graphic communications and commercial print, onto a single press without compromising quality.' It is scheduled for release in a year's time. The new Xerox Proficio Jet CF1200 is an 'industrial' continuous-feed inkjet press that delivers speeds of up to 160 metres a minute at 1200dpi within a 'compact' 8.5 metre footprint. Xerox says it is the smallest 20-inch press in its class. It handles between four million and 30 million Letter / A4 impressions per month, 'helping high-volume print providers increase capacity, operate more efficiently and protect margins.' The press is scheduled to hit the market in Q1 next year. Succeeding the Iridesse, the Xerox Proficio PX700 FLX is a new graphic arts production press that delivers speeds of up to 120 pages per minute, and supports up to six colours inline at rated speed. New Fluorescent Green specialty toner further expands the colour, and says Xerox, improves RGB accuracy when paired with Fluorescent Pink. According to Xerox its intelligent automation helps reduce operator intervention and improve consistency, enabling print providers to create differentiated, high-value applications. The new Proficio PX700 FLX will be commercially available in Q2 next year. In addition Xerox has updated its Proficio PX300 and PX500 features, with new Beyond CMYK and fifth-colour options, including Gold, Silver and White. The Proficio PX300 and Proficio PX500 expand opportunities for metallic effects and printing on dark and transparent media. The Proficio PX300 now also features the Xerox PredictPrint Media Manager, which uses AI-assisted cloud intelligence to simplify media setup and optimise colour stability. Xerox has not operated in Australia since its Fuji Xerox joint venture with Fujifilm ended five years ago. Digital edition. Read the latest issue of Print21's magazine.
