Job Description

There is an opportunity for applicants to engage in research and/or have medical teaching positions with Dalhousie University, should that be of interest. The current remuneration arrangement is a set daily rate as per the provincial hospitalist agreement with a stipend, plus fee-for-service billings for on-call work. Scheduling is flexible. Fulltime is seven full days on, seven days off, working roughly 24 weeks a year. Part time is anything less (i.e. seven days per month, 14 days per month of half days (4.5 hrs/day), seven days per quarter, etc.). Overnight call is split amongst the group of five physicians. 

Responsibilities

• Duties include full scope of practice as a hospitalist providing care to patients within the Northern Zone and participating in call. 
• The physician will be responsible to the Zone Department Head of Family Practice for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice.
• Provide care and coordination of community-based care, and secondary and tertiary level health care. 
• Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority. 
• Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities.

• Remuneration - daily (1,545.56 per day as per April 1, 2025 of the Physician Agreement)

Located in Truro, it serves as the main acute care facility for the residents of Colchester and East Hants Counties, serving a population of approximately 75,000. Rooted in community support, the health centre has 122 inpatient beds and offers a wide range of inpatient, outpatient, and satellite services.

Qualifications

• All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS). 
• Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA), or proof of alternative coverage.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• Basic Cardiac Life Support(BCLS)
