About the company

Cota Robotics delivers turnkey retail automation through a Robotics-as-a-Service model, focusing on overnight shelf replenishment and other store tasks. It uses a hardware-agnostic system with an operational layer that combines teleoperation, fleet logistics, and an AI platform trained on real-world data; when a robot can’t complete a task, a human operator in a control room finishes it. Unlike hardware sellers, Cota charges a recurring hourly service and continuously integrates the most suitable robots as tech evolves. Its goal is to help retailers operate more during off-hours, improve efficiency and inventory accuracy, starting in groceries and expanding into broader retail logistics, including pilots in Finland.

Swedish robotics startup Cota Robotics raises over $1.9M for AI-powered retail floor robot

Swedish startup Cota Robotics has secured over 20 million kronor in venture capital to develop AI-powered robots for retail operations. The company, founded by Teo Rizvanovic and Kildo Alias, aims to automate mundane tasks on shop floors. The robots are already deployed in two stores. CEO Teo Rizvanovic reports massive customer interest in the technology, which is designed to handle repetitive retail work and create a robotic workforce for stores. The funding will support the company's expansion as it continues developing its retail automation solution.
