- Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
- Applicants must have two or more years of experience working with children, including camps, child care, tutoring, or nannying.
- Applicants must have experience planning and implementing group activities.
- Applicants must have completed 12 credits of 100-level or above college coursework and possess a GED or high school diploma.
- Applicants must complete the minimum required STARS training.
- Applicants must hold CPR and first aid certification.
- Applicants must complete pre-employment tuberculosis testing and have the required measles, mumps, and rubella vaccination.
- Applicants must have a food worker card.
- Applicants must obtain a cleared Portable Background Check in the statewide MERIT registry.
- Applicants must be able to perform the physical duties of the role, including standing, walking, using their hands, reaching, and occasionally lifting up to 20 pounds.
- Employees must adhere to abuse prevention policies, maintain appropriate boundaries, complete required training, report suspicious or inappropriate behavior, and comply with mandated reporting requirements.
- Plan and implement culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate activities within the curriculum provided by the YDCoE.
- Supervise a group of children to ensure their health and safety and provide a positive experience for each child.
- Provide guidance to staff and volunteers overseeing children’s activities when needed.
- Communicate day-to-day, confidential, and evaluative information professionally with parents and guardians.
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including procedures for medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
- Assist in maintaining a developmentally appropriate site, including its appearance, décor, and cleanliness.
- Prepare and serve snacks when needed and clean the snack area.
- Assist parents with child check-in and check-out.
- Assume responsibility for program operation when DCYF-designated and qualified staff are not on the premises.
- Provide onsite support for the school-based Play Everyday Program.
- Attend required staff meetings and trainings.
- Ensure that staff are properly screened, trained, supervised, and held accountable to the organization’s abuse risk management standards.
- Perform other assigned duties.
- Applicants who are at least 21 years old are preferred.
- One to two years of leadership or supervisory experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations, including differences in language, culture, race, physical ability, and sexual orientation, is preferred.
- Ability to speak a language in addition to English is preferred.
