About the Job

Requirements

  • A B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent is required.
  • At least 7 years of experience is required.
  • Experience designing complete RF receiver and/or transmitter signal chains using common architectures, including cascade analyses and architecture trade-off studies.
  • Experience with off-the-shelf discrete RF components, including low-noise amplifiers, filters, mixers, phase-locked loops and synthesizers, oscillators, amplifiers, variable attenuators, switches, power detectors, and limiters.
  • Experience with high-speed data converters, including analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters, selection, characterization, integration, and associated anti-aliasing and reconstruction filter design.
  • Experience with synthesizer and local oscillator design, including phase-locked loop filter optimization, phase noise analysis, and spur management.
  • Experience with schematic capture, board bring-up, testing, and optimization.
  • Experience with circuit modeling and simulation using tools such as Ansys Electronics Desktop (Nexxim, SiWave) and Cadence AWR Microwave Office.
  • Proficiency with RF test equipment, including vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, and oscilloscopes.
  • Must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop complete RF radio architectures, including receivers, transmitters, and transceivers, from requirements through production.
  • Architect and design RF up-conversion and down-conversion signal chains, optimizing trade-offs among noise, distortion, and dynamic range.
  • Model, simulate, analyze, design, test, and optimize active and passive RF and/or mixed-signal circuits.
  • Select, characterize, and integrate high-speed data converters and associated baseband driving, filtering, and interface circuits.
  • Design and optimize clock trees, reference oscillators, and local oscillator and synthesizer architectures, including direct digital synthesis, phase-locked loops, and voltage-controlled oscillators, with emphasis on phase noise, spurious signals, and settling time.
  • Perform system-level spur analyses, including mixer spurs, synthesizer harmonics, clock coupling, and image rejection, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Own radio printed circuit board assembly design and testing through the full lifecycle, including harmonic and spur analysis, component selection, technical data packages, schematic and layout, board bring-up, testing, design verification testing, acceptance testing, and new product introduction to manufacturing.
  • Assist with feasibility studies, requirements definition, and system integration as needed.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with 3D electromagnetic modeling and simulation using Ansys HFSS, CST, or Feko, and nonlinear circuit simulation, including harmonic balance and envelope simulation, using tools such as AWR Microwave Office.
  • Familiarity with matching circuits, RF filter design, and feedback and control loop design, including automatic gain control, automatic level control, and power control.
  • Experience with RF shielding, cavity design, and isolation techniques for leakage mitigation.
  • Experience with new product introduction, manufacturing test development, and production transitions.
  • Familiarity with FPGA or digital backend integration with RF front ends.
  • Experience with printed circuit board design and layout, and guiding layout engineers.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python for analysis and test automation.
  • Familiarity with embedded Linux.

About the Company

Anduril

Builds autonomous weapons for the US and allies

Anduril builds autonomous weapons, such as drones, cruise missiles, and robot submarines, for the US military and its allies, often developing them with its own money before any order arrives. In 2024 it beat Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman for an Air Force contract to develop Fury, a pilotless jet that flies alongside crewed fighters. Its Lattice software merges camera and radar feeds into one live map and lets a few operators direct many drones and weapons at once, including other companies' systems. Governments buy its systems under contract, and Anduril builds much of the hardware in its own factories. Oculus founder Palmer Luckey co-founded Anduril in 2017, and it is based in Costa Mesa, California.
