About the company

AppLovin runs an advertising platform that uses AI to place ads inside mobile apps, mostly games, for app developers and consumer brands looking for customers. In 2023, it overhauled the AI models behind its Axon ad engine, an upgrade that sharply raised advertiser spending and helped AppLovin join the S&P 500 in 2025. Advertisers set a budget and target return in AppLovin Ads Manager, and Axon predicts who will install an app or buy a product, then bids to show them video ads or playable demos. App makers sell their ad space through its MAX auction tool, and AppLovin keeps a share of what advertisers spend. The company was founded in 2012 and is based in Palo Alto, California.

What believers are saying

  • Sales keep compounding: revenue rose 53% to $1.92 billion in the June 2026 quarter, with about $2.07 billion forecast next.
  • Non-game advertisers add a second engine: their spending in the June 2026 quarter ran 28% above the 2025 holiday peak.
  • Profits protect jobs: AppLovin kept $1.27 billion, or 66% of revenue, as net income in the June 2026 quarter.

What critics are saying

  • Game-engine maker Unity is catching up: its AI-driven ad sales grew 63% in the June 2026 quarter, faster than AppLovin's.
  • Stock grants have shrunk: shares fell 58% this year through October 8, 2026, while Unity's rose 4%.
  • Growth hinges on its AI engine: slower upgrades to Axon, its ad-targeting system, left June 2026 quarter sales below forecasts.

What makes AppLovin unique

  • It runs unusually lean: 898 employees brought in $5.48 billion of revenue in 2025, over $6 million per person.
  • Most hit games run its ad auctions: 73% of ad-supported top-downloaded games used its MAX tool in March 2025.
  • Its co-founder keeps control: CEO Adam Foroughi and former finance chief Herald Chen direct a majority of shareholder votes.

AppLovin stock down 55.6% as web ads for online sellers remain unproven

AppLovin's stock has fallen 55.6% over the past year, against a 17.3% gain for the S&P 500. Investors are now counting on its push to sell web ads to online sellers, not just place ads in mobile games. The company has yet to show that e-commerce sellers will spend heavily on a platform best known for games. Management says many of them do not know AppLovin, and most still spend far more with other ad platforms. Second-quarter 2026 revenue rose 52.8% year on year, down from 77.0% a year earlier. AppLovin guided third-quarter revenue to $2.06 billion to $2.09 billion, about 47% above the $1.41 billion of the same quarter in 2025. The next report, expected around November 4, 2026, may show how much revenue comes from web ads.

Kirby McInerney LLP alerts investors who acquired AppLovin Corporation APP securities between February 12, 2026 and August 5, 2026 of pending lawsuit.

Kirby McInerney LLP alerts investors who acquired AppLovin Corporation APP securities between February 12, 2026 and August 5, 2026 of pending lawsuit. NEW YORK-(BUSINESS WIRE)-$APP #ClassActionLawsuit-Kirby McInerney LLP reminds AppLovin Corporation ("AppLovin" or the "Company") (NASDAQ: APP) investors of the November 16, 2026 deadline to seek the role of lead plaintiff in a pending federal securities class action. Investors are encouraged to contact Lauren Molinaro of Kirby McInerney LLP by email at [email protected], or fill out the contact form below to discuss your rights or interests in the securities fraud class action lawsuit at no cost. What Is The Lawsuit About? The lawsuit has been filed on behalf of investors who purchased securities during the period of February 12, 2026 through August 5, 2026, inclusive ("the Class Period"). The lawsuit alleges that AppLovin made false and/or misleading statements and failed to disclose that: (i) the generative AI video creative feature for the Company's AppLovin Ads platform was subject to significant development delays, making its release on the Company's timeline unlikely; (ii) Defendants overstated the constancy with which AppLovin was improving its AI models; and (iii) for these reasons, among others, AppLovin had significantly overstated the benefits and reliability of the purportedly "virtuous cycle" and "compounding" value proposition that its AI models provided to customers. On July 13, 2026, Bank of America Securities published a note reporting softer-than-expected e-commerce ad growth for AppLovin for the month of June. Bank of America Securities stated, "AppLovin's eCommerce footprint expanded at a slower pace in June," and data "suggested a muted GA start." Bank of America Securities lowered its expectations of AppLovin's annual revenue, "assuming a slower initial GA ramp." On this news, the price of AppLovin's shares declined by $61.13 per share, or approximately 12.65%, from $506.98 to close at $442.85 per share on July 13, 2026. On August 5, 2026, AppLovin reported its second quarter 2026 financial results, reporting revenue of $1.92 billion, below consensus estimates of $1.94 billion. The Company attributed their revenue performance to model performance, asserting that "our pace of meaningful model improvement was lighter than normal during the quarter." AppLovin also revealed that its generative AI video tool was "still [a] work in progress" and had not yet been rolled out. On this news, the price of AppLovin's shares declined by $82.13 per share, or approximately 19.66%, from $417.80 to close at $335.67 per share on August 6, 2026. What Should I Do? If you purchased or otherwise acquired AppLovin securities, have information, or would like to learn more about this investigation, please contact Lauren Molinaro of Kirby McInerney LLP by email at [email protected], or fill out the contact form below, to discuss your rights or interests with respect to these matters at no cost. What is the Lead Plaintiff Deadline? Courts do not consider applications filed after this deadline.
