- Completion of a formal nuclear medicine technology program is required.
- A current State of Texas license is required.
- Current registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Nuclear Medicine and/or CNMT registry is required.
- Basic Life Support certification is required within 60 days of employment.
- The position requires the ability to position patients for examination or treatment, including frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, and walking.
- The position requires visual and hearing acuity and depth perception to examine exposed film for pertinent details.
- The position may involve exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals or detergents, moving mechanical parts, potential electric shock, radiant energy, communicable diseases, and blood-borne pathogens.
- Prepare equipment and patients for nuclear medicine procedures.
- Safely and accurately perform nuclear scans as ordered and directed according to established practices and procedures.
- Prepare radioactive isotopes and calculate the specific amount and type of isotope required for each examination.
- Operate radioisotope devices to calibrate isotopes and record images.
- Assay the quality of purchased isotopes and monitor for possible contamination using a Geiger counter.
- Ensure that equipment is in proper working condition through floods, daily quality control, and observation.
- Maintain records of tests conducted, test results, and the use and disposition of isotopes.
- Attend required meetings and in-service sessions.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and handle protected health information appropriately.
- Abide by the Huntsville Memorial Hospital Legal Compliance Code of Conduct.
- Maintain a safe work environment and report safety concerns appropriately.
- Participate in the interdisciplinary care and service delivery process through effective interaction with hospital staff, medical staff, patients, and visitors.
- Perform other related functions as required.
