Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Law degree from an established and reputable university is preferred.
  • Have 6–8 years of relevant commercial legal and privacy experience in a reputable law firm and/or in-house for a multinational organization.
  • Have a solid general legal background.
  • Have an aptitude for finding pragmatic solutions to challenges within the privacy field.
  • Have a practical approach to the practice of law and a commercially savvy outlook.
  • Have strong organizational skills and attention to detail, and be able to work well under pressure.
  • Be able to self-manage with minimal supervision, manage time effectively to meet deadlines, recognize priorities, handle competing stakeholder and departmental interests, and balance legal risks against business interests.
  • Be able to work as part of a team and solve complex problems creatively.
  • Have a business-oriented commercial mindset and a flexible, practical problem-solving approach.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and guidance on commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, employment law, intellectual property, and dispute resolution.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements relevant to company operations in Singapore, including agreements with customers, suppliers, partners, and employees.
  • Assist with corporate governance matters, including board meetings, shareholder agreements, and compliance with corporate laws and regulations in Singapore.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations in Singapore, including industry-specific regulations and standards; monitor legislative changes and advise on compliance.
  • Advise on and manage intellectual property rights in Singapore, including trademarks, patents, copyrights, and trade secrets; file registrations, enforce rights, and defend against infringement claims as needed.
  • Handle legal disputes in Singapore involving businesses, customers, employees, or regulatory bodies, including negotiating settlements, representing the company in court proceedings, and using alternative dispute resolution methods.
  • Provide guidance on employment contracts, workplace policies, termination issues, and compliance with employment laws and regulations in Singapore.
  • Assist with mergers, acquisitions, investments, and other commercial transactions in Singapore, including legal due diligence, negotiating terms, and drafting transaction documents.
  • Apply knowledge of intellectual property and licensing, contract and corporate law, and advertising, media, and broadcast regulations.
  • Build relationships with government agencies and regulators in Singapore to stay informed about regulatory developments and advocate for the company's interests.
  • Identify legal risks facing the company in Singapore and develop strategies to mitigate them, including conducting risk assessments, implementing compliance programs, and training employees on legal matters.
