Requirements
  • The candidate must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
  • The candidate must hold current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Basic Life Support certifications and maintain valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.
  • The candidate must be able to employ problem-solving techniques and critical thinking.
  • The candidate must have effective interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate must be able to lift and move patients with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • The candidate must be able to organize the care and activities of multiple patients.
  • The candidate must complete FIT testing.
  • Proficiency in the English language is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide accountable care for assigned patients by assessing, diagnosing, planning, and intervening in actual or potential health problems, and evaluating patients’ responses to care.
  • Provide patient education and discharge planning.
  • Mobilize patients, prevent skin breakdown and falls, and implement appropriate safety measures.
  • Collaborate with, coordinate, and guide designated care-team members in planning patient care and achieving patient-care goals in a safe environment.
  • Deliver care according to the patient’s and family’s developmental stage and cultural expectations.
  • Document care and services thoroughly in accordance with American Nurses Association Standards of Clinical Practice, Joint Commission standards and Sentinel Event Alert recommendations, Patient/Family-Centered Principles, Department of Health standards, and University Hospital policies and procedures.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
  • Adult medical/surgical experience is preferred.
  • Successful completion of a Progressive Care Course or Progressive Care Certification is preferred, with completion required within the first six months of hire.
  • Phlebotomy Certification or Intravenous Certification is preferred, with completion required within the first six months of hire.
  • Successful completion of a Critical Care Course or Critical Care Registered Nurse Certification is preferred.
