  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar engineering discipline.
  • At least 3 years of related experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in aviation and/or manufacturing.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Suite products.
  • Working knowledge and application of Business Management Systems and Quality Management Systems.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, and tools used in process engineering.
  • Knowledge of basic project management concepts.
  • Knowledge of planning tools such as AVL2 and EPIQA.
  • Experience implementing manufacturing or assembly technologies.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing engineering tool sets such as SAP and MES.
  • Knowledge of SAP transactions.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and the ability to address problems with timely solutions.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the industrial feasibility of the Definition Dossier.
  • Create and maintain an Integrated Manufacturing Dossier from the Definition Dossier, including Standard Operating Instructions.
  • Produce detailed optimized processes with appropriate STV calculations.
  • Determine and record Process Efficiency by assessing Value Added Time versus Non-Value Added Time.
  • Produce PERT/GANTT diagrams to determine industrial impacts on engineering teams.
  • Contribute to defining the Kinston Plant industrial system.
  • Analyze and define line balancing across the products manufactured at the Kinston Plant.
  • Analyze and optimize manufacturing systems during major modifications and step changes.
  • Ensure correct configuration from definition through production commencement.
  • Analyze and document outstanding Travelling Work to minimize or eliminate it.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to enable timely delivery of optimized solutions.
  • Optimize processes and work stations.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce travelled work and improve value-added production processes.
  • Implement improvement proposals.
  • Assist with training and onboarding new team members.
  • Promote a customer-focused mindset within the Manufacturing Engineering organization.
  • Respond to and resolve technical queries from departments and stakeholders.
  • Serve as an expert in Industrial System build processes.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Head of Technical Shop Floor Support.

Airbus A350F freighter completes maiden flight with 4.3m cargo door for servers

Airbus has successfully completed the first flight of its A350F freighter, bringing the aerospace giant closer to delivering a high-capacity cargo aircraft. The plane took off from Airbus headquarters in Toulouse, France, flying for four hours and ten minutes and reaching 25,000 feet. The A350F can carry a payload of 109 tonnes, compared to 64 tonnes for the existing A330F. It features a 4.3-metre cargo door large enough to accommodate turbofan engines and high-density computer servers. Airbus claims the A350F is more efficient than Boeing's rival 777F, despite having slightly less capacity. The company has already received orders for 115 A350Fs. A second test aircraft is nearly complete as Airbus begins the certification process requiring hundreds of test flights.

Airbus and Qantas back $30M funding for Australian SAF developer Jet Zero

Jet Zero Australia has raised $30 million to advance Project Ulysses, a commercial-scale sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel refinery in Townsville. The funding round was backed by institutional investors including Qantas and Airbus, both returning investors from 2023. South Korean company Posco International joined as a new strategic investor, with the parties exploring opportunities in fuel offtake, infrastructure and feedstock. The capital will fund completion of Front-End Engineering Design and support the project's progress towards Final Investment Decision and construction. Founded in 2021 by Ed Mason, Jet Zero develops biofuels production capacity in regional Australia. The project has received its final Development Permit Decision Notice from Queensland's Office of the Coordinator-General. It is expected to create approximately 1,000 construction jobs and 100 permanent operational roles.

Airbus shelves stricter office return plan after Spanish union strikes

Airbus has postponed its plan to reduce remote working after strikes by Spanish unions, Reuters reports. The aerospace manufacturer will allow employees to continue working from home an average of two days per week, shelving indefinitely a push to limit remote work to one day. Chief Executive Guillaume Faury had sought to require white-collar staff on-site four days weekly by September, citing the need for knowledge transfer. Spanish unions said roughly 40% of Airbus's 14,000 Spanish employees have walked out over remote work policies, transport, leave and wages. An Airbus spokesperson said the company would implement the transition "more gradually" based on employee feedback. French unions estimate a quarter to a third of Airbus's workforce has been hired in the past three years. Aircraft production has not been affected by the disruptions.
