What believers are saying

  • PBS raised $17 million in January 2025 and expanded manufacturing for $100 million revenue.
  • MiniPRO expanded availability in August 2026, signaling product-market pull for process-development customers.
  • PBS won Life Sciences Review's 2026 award and deepened partnerships with Rockwell and denovoMATRIX.

What critics are saying

  • MiniPRO shipping depends on fragile cell-therapy capital spending and customer adoption in 2026.
  • Customer concentration in cell therapy ties revenue to biotech funding cycles and clinical setbacks.
  • If Rockwell or larger automation vendors replicate Vertical-Wheel economics, PBS loses its wedge.

What makes PBS Biotech unique

  • Vertical-Wheel bioreactors create low-shear mixing for iPSCs, MSCs, and NK cells.
  • MiniPRO runs 24 parallel vessels with Rockwell FactoryTalk, linking development to GMP.
  • Martin Simonetti, Brian Lee, and ex-Thermo Fisher operators give PBS deep execution credibility.

PBS Biotech accelerates cell therapy development with Rockwell Automation technology

PBS Biotech has integrated Rockwell Automation technology into its MiniPRO bioreactor platform to accelerate cell therapy development. The system features up to 24 independently controlled bioreactors and uses FactoryTalk software to deliver real-time process control. The platform addresses industry challenges including low-throughput workflows and non-standardised environments that slow progress in Advanced Therapeutic Medicinal Products development. By embedding industrial-grade automation during product development, the system enables seamless progression to clinical and commercial manufacturing. The Advanced Regenerative Manufacturing Institute adopted the platform, noting that integration with existing control systems is streamlined due to Rockwell's standardised technology. PBS Biotech has demonstrated consistent process performance between the MiniPRO and its larger-scale Vertical-Wheel bioreactors, supporting predictable transfer into Good Manufacturing Practice settings.
