Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • The candidate must be able to pass a background check.
  • An Alaska driver's license is preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as a liaison between coaches and the administration.
  • Communicate with participants, parents, and administrators.
  • Follow safety procedures and applicable district and activity policies and guidelines.
  • Review the Coaches’ and the Parent and Student Handbooks annually.
  • Prioritize student welfare in decision-making.
  • Complete the mandatory coaching and activity adviser staff trainings on or before the first contract day.
  • Coordinate performance times and dates with the principal.
  • Maintain an athlete roster and attendance records and submit them to the principal for possible physical education credit.
  • Coordinate with the JOM grant manager on criteria for attending the Anchorage event.
  • Complete Native Youth Olympics registration during the early registration period.
  • If traveling to Anchorage, administer the post-attendance survey to students and submit travel paperwork at least 15 days before travel and upon returning.
  • If based in Barrow or Point Hope, follow the Native Village JOM grant manager procedures.
