Requirements
  • A master's degree in Social Work is required.
  • A Florida Licensed Clinical Social Worker license is required.
  • A minimum of two years of post-Master of Social Work experience in a related field is required.
  • Previous experience working in a hospital setting is required.
  • Must demonstrate critical thinking, effective verbal and written communication, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful, fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
  • Must have strong organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
  • Must be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as a compassionate advocate and integral member of the multidisciplinary cancer care team, providing comprehensive psychosocial support to patients and families throughout diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and end-of-life care.
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop individualized care plans.
  • Provide individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, grief and bereavement support, and education on coping strategies and treatment-related concerns.
  • Help patients navigate healthcare services and connect them with financial, community, and other supportive resources.
  • Attend interdisciplinary rounds and identify appropriate resources for financial, insurance, transportation, housing, healthcare, mental health, and spiritual services.
  • Lead complex family meetings.
  • Assist patients with understanding complex instructions and resolve or facilitate resolution of conflicts.
  • Develop behavioral agreements with patients and families addressing adherence and commitment to treatment plans.
  • Assist with patient fundraising.
  • Interview and assess patients, families, caregivers, and legal representatives.
  • Perform comprehensive psychosocial assessments for applicable moderate- or high-risk patients to support care coordination and discharge planning.
  • Design and facilitate support groups and other programs.
  • Consult and collaborate with multidisciplinary transplant providers.
  • Refer patients to community agencies, including the Department of Children & Families, Adult Protective Services, Social Security Administration, Center for Medicare Services, and disease-specific resources.
  • Manage cases involving guardianship, abuse or neglect, ethical concerns, and legal involvement.
  • Document clinical assessments and interventions.
  • Train and supervise graduate social work interns and may supervise or train new staff, students, and interns.

Madison Workman named CEO of Memorial Hospital Pembroke after overseeing $100M+ investment at Broward Health North

Memorial Healthcare System has appointed Madison Workman as chief executive officer of Memorial Hospital Pembroke. Workman brings nearly two decades of healthcare leadership experience to the role. He most recently served as chief operating officer of Broward Health North, a 409-bed Level II trauma hospital, where he oversaw approximately 800 employees and helped lead more than $100 million in construction and capital investment. Previously, Workman held senior positions at HCA Florida University Hospital and Tenet Healthcare, where he provided oversight across five Miami-Dade hospitals representing more than 1,700 beds and a $750 million operating budget. A Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives since 2021, Workman will oversee operations at the 301-bed Memorial Hospital Pembroke in Pembroke Pines, Florida.

Memorial Healthcare System reports record $487.6M excess revenue, up 20.3%, funding $670M hospital expansion

Memorial Healthcare System reported record financial results for fiscal year 2026, with operating revenue reaching $3.8 billion, a 7.7% increase year-over-year. Operating income rose more than 60% to $220.7 million, whilst excess revenues over expenses increased 20.3% to a record $487.6 million. The public healthcare system's net position grew by over $503 million to $4.1 billion. Hospital outpatient visits increased 5.7% as more patients sought advanced specialty care. Memorial is reinvesting its financial strength into community projects, including a $670 million surgical tower at Memorial Regional Hospital and two new freestanding emergency rooms. The organisation maintains approximately $3.5 billion in cash and investments whilst providing hundreds of millions in charitable and uncompensated care. Memorial employs over 17,500 team members across South Florida.

Memorial Hospital Miramar has opened a new outpatient facility in Florida, expanding access to diagnostic imaging and specialty care for the local community. The facility houses advanced imaging equipment including a 3T MRI and 256-slice CT scanner, alongside laboratory services, infusion care, women's imaging, and an outpatient surgical centre. The first floor provides most outpatient services, whilst the second floor accommodates the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital Specialty Center and U18 Sports Rehab. Memorial brings photon-counting CT scanner to South Florida for advanced heart imaging

Memorial Healthcare System has become the first healthcare provider in South Florida to dedicate a Siemens NAEOTOM Alpha photon-counting CT scanner exclusively to cardiac imaging. The technology is located at Memorial Hospital West in Pembroke Pines. The scanner provides physicians with detailed views of coronary arteries, plaque, and heart abnormalities that conventional CT technology cannot capture. It uses less radiation than traditional systems whilst producing higher-resolution images. Memorial combines the scanner with HeartFlow FFRCT, an AI-enabled technology that creates three-dimensional models of patients' coronary arteries. This helps physicians assess whether blockages restrict blood flow, potentially reducing the need for invasive diagnostic procedures. The technology supports diagnosis of coronary artery disease, congenital heart conditions, valve disease, and helps evaluate bypass grafts and stents.

Memorial Healthcare System has opened the Douglas Road ER in Pembroke Pines, Florida, transforming a longtime 24/7 care centre into an expanded freestanding emergency room. The $52 million, 30,000-square-foot facility opens to the public in August 2026. Located at 801 S. Douglas Road, the emergency room features 41 treatment spaces, including dedicated paediatric and trauma rooms. The facility is equipped with advanced imaging capabilities including CT scans, X-rays and ultrasound, plus an on-site laboratory. The Douglas Road ER, together with Memorial's Red Road ER, is expected to serve more than 32,850 patients annually. The previous 24/7 care centre had evaluated over 800,000 patients in the past 15 years. The licensed emergency department operates 24/7 and connects patients to Memorial Healthcare System's broader network of hospitals and specialists.
