About the job

Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of project and program management principles, production planning, and operational execution in a build or integration environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with materials management, including demand forecasting, move orders, bill of materials matching, inbound and outbound logistics, inventory balance, and warehouse operations.
  • Experience owning quality assurance and quality control and return merchandise authorization processes for hardware or integrated equipment.
  • Ability to build and maintain production schedules, capacity models, forecasts, trackers, dashboards, and key performance indicator reporting from scratch.
  • Strong analytical and data reconciliation skills across multiple operational systems.
  • Experience defining ownership matrices and governance in a shared internal and vendor delivery model, and holding partners to committed scope.
  • Familiarity with generative artificial intelligence, large language model platforms, and workflow automation, with the ability to apply them to planning, reporting, and knowledge management.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and standard program management and collaboration tools.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional delivery with technical, operational, and vendor stakeholders without direct reporting authority.
  • Ability to initiate communication, ask questions early, and independently drive demand and materials plans.
  • Strong facilitation skills and ability to resolve overlapping ownership claims and ambiguity directly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including leadership- and vice-president-level readouts.
  • Ability to manage concurrent workstreams and competing priorities in a fast-changing environment.
  • Ability to enter an established operation, diagnose gaps rapidly, and strengthen structure without disrupting delivery.
  • Bachelor's degree in project management, supply chain, business administration, engineering, operations, information technology, or a related field; equivalent relevant professional experience may be considered.
  • Five to eight years of progressive experience in program management, production or deployment operations, supply chain, or infrastructure deployment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment where demand, forecasts, and need-by dates change frequently.
  • Regular on-site presence at the assigned location, including warehouse and production floor environments, with extended on-site weeks during leadership transitions and critical production periods.
  • Willingness to travel to other rack integration and data center sites for alignment, benchmarking, and transition support.
  • Ability to collaborate across geographically dispersed partner teams.
  • Flexibility to support critical production, delivery, or escalation activity outside standard business hours.
  • Ability to comply with applicable site safety, security, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Factory capacity planning or warehouse capacity planning.
Responsibilities
  • Assume ownership of the rack integration program with minimal disruption, maintaining clear scope, ownership, cadence, meeting structure, reporting, and escalation paths.
  • Review, clarify, and maintain the responsibility matrix between internal teams and the integration partner, including purchase order creation, material transfer and delivery, rack build, on-site variations, quality assurance and quality control, and return merchandise authorization; keep the written agreement current as scope evolves.
  • Identify and close ownership gaps where a responsibility is assigned on paper but is not being executed on site.
  • Strengthen existing workflows using proven operating models from comparable sites and feed improvements back to the broader program.
  • Convert rack demand, need-by dates, and site requirements into a production schedule and rack arrival plan; sequence builds against material availability and warehouse capacity.
  • Own rack scheduling and arrival, coordinating in-rack cabling, network, and optics with the site build teams.
  • Provide accurate bills of materials and rack demand to the materials function; partner with product quality engineering on bill of materials development and build-bill-of-materials ownership.
  • Align the production schedule with the integration partner's actual throughput capability and escalate when they diverge.
  • Re-plan when program decommits, forecast changes, or scope pivots change need-by dates, and quantify the downstream impact of each change.
  • Maintain awareness of and integrate with processes for incoming and outgoing material coordination, including truck coordination and daily inbound volume.
  • Align operational workflows with guidelines to support warehouse balance and prevent safety hazards from pallets staged in aisles or between rows.
  • Provide rolling two-week demand forecasts and lock them for the integration partner's production planning.

  • Own quality assurance and quality control failure triage and the return merchandise authorization process end to end, including clearing and preventing backlogs.
  • Manage on-site variations to rack design and deployment methodology, documenting decisions and maintaining traceability.
  • Ensure rack deployment methodology is followed consistently and captured in site documentation.
  • Build and maintain the site's production forecast, capacity model, capacity planning, master tracker, dashboards, and operational reporting.
  • Report on backlog, inventory, demand, material readiness, throughput, and schedule attainment; surface trends and future constraints early.
  • Reconcile data across demand, materials, and production systems to find discrepancies and improve data integrity.
  • Define key performance indicators for site health, including schedule attainment, material readiness, return merchandise authorization cycle time, and warehouse utilization, and report performance quantitatively.
  • Develop and maintain short- and long-range capacity-versus-demand models to evaluate deployment feasibility, identify constraints, support site intake decisions, and prevent commitments that exceed operational capacity.
  • Act as the site coordination point across internal engineering and operations teams, the integration partner, product quality engineering, capacity planning, demand planning, logistics, and site build teams.
  • Lead production and materials reviews, capacity discussions, and issue-resolution forums.
  • Communicate status, risk, capacity constraints, and decisions to leadership, including executive-level readouts on production plans and revised dates.
  • Broker alignment between teams with competing priorities and overlapping ownership claims, and resolve boundary disputes rather than repeatedly escalating them.
  • Coach and support on-site materials and coordination staff, distributing workload to prevent single-point dependency and burnout.
  • Identify material constraints, throughput bottlenecks, warehouse capacity limits, resource gaps, and system gaps proactively.
  • Develop mitigation, recovery, and contingency plans that protect deployment commitments.
  • Assess and document downstream impacts of demand decommits, forecast changes, design changes, and schedule shifts.
  • Drive escalations to closure with clear ownership, decisions, and impacts recorded.
  • Plan for resource continuity, including contract end dates, site ramp-down, and transition of scope to follow-on sites.
  • Replace manual spreadsheet-driven planning with integrated, automated tools to reduce manual recalculation of demand and materials.
  • Build AI-assisted tools, dashboards, and knowledge resources for forecasting, reporting, and decision support, and validate their outputs before operational use.
  • Capture lessons learned from established sites and convert them into reusable standards, playbooks, and process documentation.
Desired Qualifications
  • Managerial experience.
  • Experience taking ownership of an established site, line, or program and improving performance while maintaining operational continuity.
  • Experience in data center infrastructure, rack integration, manufacturing, logistics, or similarly complex operational environments.
  • Experience managing or coordinating vendor or integration-partner delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience developing or improving operational processes, planning frameworks, reporting structures, and program controls.
  • Project management, supply chain, or process improvement certification.

Cognizant to buy Astreya for about $600 million. Published 04/29/2026, 04:34 AM Updated 04/29/2026, 04:36 AM (C) Reuters. By Milana Vinn and Natalia Bueno Rebolledo April 29 (Reuters) - Cognizant Technology has agreed to buy Astreya, an IT services and technology provider focused on AI infrastructure and data center services, in a deal valued at around $600 million, the company told Reuters. The deal is expected to strengthen Cognizant's AI infrastructure capabilities, as companies ramp up spending on the technology that is reshaping industries. The deal, expected to close in the second quarter of 2026 pending regulatory approvals, is likely to be announced on Wednesday. Cognizant has benefited from enterprise clients accelerating AI integration and automation as they migrate workloads to the cloud. The company has expanded partnerships with Microsoft and AI startup Anthropic to stay ahead of rivals in a highly competitive industry. "By acquiring Astreya and its proprietary AI tooling and production-grade infrastructure platform, which is complementary to Cognizant's AI builder stack, we will be even better-positioned to help clients architect their platform-led AI systems and operationalise them at scale," Chief Executive Ravi Kumar S said. The Astreya deal builds on a recent run of acquisitions aimed at strengthening Cognizant's AI business. The company bought tech consulting firm 3Cloud in January to expand its Microsoft Azure capabilities and acquired digital engineering firm Belcan in 2024 for nearly $1.3 billion. Founded in 2001, Astreya has spent nearly a decade managing data center infrastructure, AI lab environments and enterprise networks for six of the so-called Magnificent Seven tech firms. Cognizant, valued at $26 billion, has lost more than a third of its market value this year, weighed down by a weak demand outlook for IT services and AI-driven deflation fears.
