Requirements
  • A nursing degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  • A current unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the practicing state is required.
  • At least 1 year of clinical nursing experience is required.
  • The ability to demonstrate compassion when working with residents is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to residents and supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by certified nursing assistants in accordance with applicable regulations and facility policies.
  • Direct the daily activities of certified nursing assistants and resident care associates.
  • Follow the nursing model to promote holistic resident care.
  • Ensure assigned nursing personnel comply with policies and procedures.
  • Participate in resident admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  • Assess changes in residents’ status, notify the physician and resident’s family or representative, and document accordingly.
  • Transcribe physician orders to the medical record and carry out orders as written.
  • Prepare and administer medications according to physicians’ orders and observe for adverse effects.
  • Perform wound treatments according to physicians’ orders and document changes.
  • Schedule resident follow-up appointments and transportation as indicated.
  • Provide nursing leadership to assigned nursing personnel.
  • Perform colostomy changes, tube feedings, wound care, suctioning, intravenous administration, and other direct-care skills according to policies and procedures.
  • Perform rounds to ensure resident needs are met and personnel perform assigned duties.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to meet residents’ needs holistically.
  • Report incidents and unusual occurrences to the community leadership team.
  • Ensure adequate stock of medications, supplies, and equipment, and notify appropriate personnel of needs.
  • Initiate, review, and update care plans.
  • Participate in inspection survey processes.
  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities as assigned.
  • Ensure infection-control principles are followed and help correct deficiencies in practice.
  • Report allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation, or mistreatment of residents to the supervisor or administrator.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures and their updates.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Clinical nursing experience in geriatrics is preferred.
