Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and execution of marketing strategy and integrated go-to-market plans.
  • Manage external and internal partners to develop integrated campaigns, spearhead brief writing, provide strategic feedback, review creative assets, develop go-to-market plans and decks, and manage campaign execution, performance analysis, and reports.
  • Ensure all campaigns are executed on time and within budget through effective project management.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Creative, Public Relations, Media, Product Marketing, Partnerships, and Growth teams to drive holistic plans against key market business metrics.
  • Provide leadership and direction to a team of four direct reports across the United States Integrated Marketing team, overseeing strategy and cohesive execution across workstreams.
  • Collaborate with the media agency to ensure strategic alignment, seamless execution, and continuous optimization across paid channels.
  • Oversee United States influencer and creator workstreams, guiding strategy and day-to-day execution across the team.
  • Contribute to Bumble's celebrity, talent, influencer, and creator strategy by partnering with agencies, including UTA, to identify, negotiate, and manage talent partnerships.
  • Build and scale the United States creator ecosystem by leading macro- and micro-creator strategy to drive awareness, engagement, and authentic conversation around dating on Bumble.
  • Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for talent and agency partners, including UTA, ensuring coordination and follow-through on partnership deliverables.
  • Partner with Product to bring cultural insights into product strategy and ensure product experiences evolve alongside changing dating behaviors and expectations.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of marketing campaigns on brand awareness and user acquisition using data-driven decision-making.
  • Develop and share in-market learnings based on key successes and failures.
  • Navigate shifting priorities and weekly pivots with steady judgment and a solutions-first mindset.

The platform had previously run with a women-centric strategy, only allowing women to send the initial message in a match. With this new tweak, any participant in a match may now send the initial message. This is another step toward more equal engagement between users. Bumble has upgraded its chat function with major improvements in an effort to boost flexibility and user engagement. Effective immediately, the first conversation in a match may be initiated by any participant, creating a more balanced engagement dynamic. Bumble has extended the recipient's response window from 24 hours to 72 hours to provide more time for crafting thoughtful responses. Users are limited to sending one first message to start a chat, allowing for a great first impression. Conversations begin only when the receiver replies to this first message. In addition, people sending short or low-effort messages will be prompted to participate in more meaningful conversation. - Advertisement - The company says its research has shown a favourable rise in message initiation rates and a more equal distribution of first messages between male and female users. Bumble debuted in 2014 and has put women's experience at the heart of all they do on the site. A whopping 66% of the women polled prefer that males make the first move, which takes the strain off of dating. Dating apps pivot from endless swiping to real-life events as Gen Z drives user decline

Major dating apps are pivoting away from the swiping model that built their businesses as user numbers decline and Gen Z seeks more meaningful connections. Match Group, which owns Tinder and Hinge, saw paying users drop 6% to 13.3 million in the second quarter, whilst Bumble's paying users fell 16.4% to 3.2 million. Global dating app downloads have declined for six consecutive years since peaking in 2019. Both companies are now emphasising quality over quantity. Tinder has expanded its Events feature to 10 cities, showing users local activities they can attend together. Bumble has eliminated its signature requirement that women message first and is testing a standalone app for curated in-person events. Hinge, which has long focused on conversation prompts rather than swiping, grew revenue 22% to $203.5 million last quarter, suggesting the strategy may work.

Bumble revenues fall 15% to $210M as product reset extends timeline

Bumble reported Q2 revenue of $210.5 million, meeting analyst expectations but representing a 15.2% year-on-year decline. The online dating app's non-GAAP earnings of $0.48 per share significantly exceeded the $0.23 consensus estimate. However, Q3 revenue guidance of $209 million came in 2.4% below analyst expectations of $214.1 million. Paying users fell to 3.16 million, down 620,000 year on year. CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd attributed the results to an ongoing quality reset and technical platform transformation. A delay in data migration extended the timeline for new product rollouts. Management said algorithmic and interaction improvements have begun showing early signs of stronger engagement. The company plans to accelerate product innovation and increase brand marketing investment once its technology migration completes, targeting younger users with new features including group-based social offerings.
