King's Hawaiian and the Minions just dropped the banana snack Baller Alert Inc. didn't know Baller Alert Inc. needed. Reading Time: 2 mins read King's Hawaiian is shaking up snack time with a brand-new limited-edition product: "Shake 'Em" Banana Bites, launching nationwide on May 20, 2026. The playful collaboration with Illumination taps into one of animation's most beloved running jokes - the Minions' obsession with bananas - to deliver a bite-sized treat ahead of one of the summer's most anticipated family films. The new product features King's Hawaiian's signature soft, pillowy bread bites topped with banana-flavored sugar. The experience is designed to be interactive: sprinkle on the banana-flavored sugar, shake to evenly coat, and enjoy. It's a three-step snack ritual that leans into the Minions' spirit of mischief and fun. The timing is no coincidence. "Minions & Monsters" is the seventh film overall in the "Despicable Me" franchise from Illumination Entertainment, directed by series veteran Pierre Coffin, who also co-writes with Brian Lynch and reprises his role as the voice of the Minions. The film hits theaters on July 1, 2026 - about four years after "Minions: The Rise of Gru" was released in 2022. Set in Hollywood, the story follows the Minions as they attempt to make a monster movie, only to accidentally unleash real monsters onto the entertainment capital of the world. This isn't King's Hawaiian's first Minions rodeo. The brand previously partnered with Illumination on "Despicable Me 4" in 2024, rolling out Minions-themed signage and limited-edition packaging in grocery stores across the country. "Shake 'Em" Banana Bites will be available for a limited time at retailers nationwide.

To celebrate the nationwide launch of the highly anticipated Ube Coconut Sweet Rolls, the two brands have teamed up to debut an Ube Coconut ice cream and an exclusive Ube Coconut Ice Cream Sandwich, bringing together bold, island-inspired flavors in an entirely new way. At the center of the collaboration is a custom ice cream flavor developed by Van Leeuwen. Sandwiched between King's Hawaiian's newly released signature soft, fluffy Ube Coconut Sweet Rolls, the brand-new creation delivers a vibrant, multi-sensory experience that's as visually striking as it is irresistible. King's Hawaiian, the family owned company founded over 75 years ago at its first bakery in Hawaii, recently launched Ube Coconut Sweet Rolls to grocery retailers nationwide on April 6. Made with real ube and coconut milk, the limited-time offering blends the brand's beloved sweet rolls recipe with ube, a purple yam known for its naturally vibrant violet hue and flavor notes reminiscent of vanilla, coconut and pistachio. The national debut follows an overwhelmingly successful limited-time release in June 2025, where consumers took to social media in droves to share their love for the flavor and demand its return. Fueled by that enthusiasm and spirit of sharing island-inspired flavors, King's Hawaiian fast-tracked production to bring the fan-favorite innovation to shelves across the country. Now, with the addition of the Ube Coconut Ice Cream Sandwich, fans can experience the flavor in an entirely new format, one that reimagines the rolls as a decadent dessert. The partnership reflects both brands' shared commitment to quality ingredients and culinary creativity, pushing boundaries while staying true to what fans love most.
