Who are we looking for?

We’re seeking a Specialist Soil Testing Technician with advanced geotechnical testing experience to join our busy Sydney (Artarmon) laboratory. You’ll help us deliver major geotechnical engineering projects across transport, energy and water, by leading specialist laboratory testing within our nationally recognised geotechnical team.

We’re also open to an experienced Soil Testing Technician who is ready to build their capability and step up into a Specialist level senior role, with training and support provided.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Leading the delivery, analysis and reporting of advanced geotechnical laboratory testing programs.

• Providing technical guidance as the laboratory’s subject matter expert in advanced soil mechanics testing.

• Performing complex testing on soil, rock and aggregate samples, including triaxial, direct shear and consolidation testing.

• Ensuring testing is delivered in line with ISO/IEC 17025, NATA accreditation requirements, Australian Standards, client specifications and internal quality systems.

• Maintaining calibration records for laboratory equipment and ensuring compliance with the testing standards.

• Working closely with our broader geoscience team, including engineers, geologists, geophysicists and hydrogeologists, to support high-quality project outcomes.

What you will bring to the team:

• 5+ years’ experience as a Specialist testing technician, with demonstrated expertise in advanced soil mechanics testing, including triaxial, direct shear and consolidation testing and the relevant testing standards.

• Alternatively, 10+ years’ experience in CMT and geotechnical testing, with a strong interest in developing your career into a specialist level role.

• A Certificate IV, Diploma, Associate Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Technology or Laboratory Science.

• A strong understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 and NATA accreditation requirements.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly excel, along with a strong commitment to workplace safety.
