About the job

Requirements
  • At least 7 years in vendor master or accounts payable operations, including at least 3 years of ownership.
  • End-to-end ownership of an ERP vendor master, including process, controls, and data, across multiple entities and countries.
  • Hands-on experience verifying bank details and preventing payment fraud, including bank letters, independent callbacks, business email compromise red flags, and international bank formats.
  • Experience with vendor tax documentation, including W-9/W-8 validation, taxpayer identification number matching, VAT/GST IDs, and 1099 flagging.
  • Working knowledge of procure-to-pay controls, including segregation of duties, maker-checker, change logs, and audit evidence, and having performed or owned a SOX control.
  • Experience leading a vendor data cleanup, consolidation, or ERP migration, with demonstrable outcomes.
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills with large datasets, including deduplication, lookups, and reconciliations.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience; relevant field of study demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.
Responsibilities
  • Run intake for each new vendor and payee, validate completeness, collect and verify supporting documentation, and enable records in the ERP backbone system against agreed service levels.
  • Validate supporting documents and set 1099-reportable and tax flags correctly.
  • Confirm third-party risk and restricted-party screening before activation.
  • Set up one-time and non-vendor payees using the appropriate record type rather than requiring full onboarding.
  • Partner with third-party risk management and Internal Audit teams on control requirements and continuous process improvement.
  • Perform annual 1099 reporting.
  • Own each bank-detail setup and change, verifying details against a bank letter on letterhead or an approved equivalent, such as a void check.
  • Perform independent callbacks under policy using contact details sourced independently of the request, and record the evidence.
  • Validate international bank formats and addresses, including IBAN, SWIFT/BIC, ABA, SEPA, BSB, IFSC, and Japanese bank and branch codes.
  • Identify and escalate business email compromise attempts and other payment-fraud red flags.
  • Maintain vendor structures, including parent/child and remit-to relationships, entity and country records, contacts, and payment terms.
  • Lead vendor consolidation by eliminating duplicate vendors and bank accounts and executing merges and inactivations through batched, logged, reviewed changes.
  • Conduct periodic health reviews for dormant vendors, stale bank letters, missing tax forms, and incomplete records, and drive 1099 and taxpayer identification number readiness for year-end.
  • Own periodic vendor deactivation campaigns.
  • Own vendor-master SOX controls as the named control owner, including maker-checker controls on every create and change, change-log review, and evidence retention on every record.
  • Prepare periodic reviews of paid bank-detail changes and respond to Internal Audit and external auditor requests.
  • Partner with Finance Systems to design and maintain ERP security roles that keep vendor master, invoicing, and payments separated.
  • Flag suspicious vendor setup activity through appropriate channels.
  • Own vendor-master documentation, intake checklists, requester guidance, and service levels.
  • Serve as the vendor-data expert during process migrations, including data conversion and post-migration fixes.
  • Partner on automation for AI-assisted intake validation, document extraction, bank-format checks, and a vendor self-service portal.
  • Report monthly on onboarding volume, cycle time, bank changes, exceptions, and data quality, and use the data to improve the process.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Workday Financials vendor management and with Zip, Coupa, or a similar procure-to-pay platform.
  • SOX experience at a public company or one preparing to go public.
  • Experience supporting APAC and EMEA vendors in a high-growth, multi-entity company.
  • Experience designing or reviewing ERP security roles with a systems team.
  • Comfort using AI tools to automate validation, follow-ups, and reporting.

About the company

Anthropic builds the Claude family of AI models and sells them to businesses, software developers, and consumers, with research on making AI safe and understandable at the center of its work. In 2024 it introduced the Model Context Protocol, an open standard for connecting AI assistants to outside apps and data that OpenAI and Google adopted the next year. People use the Claude app to write and analyze files, programmers hand coding tasks to Claude Code, and companies build Claude into their own products through its API. Anthropic earns money from subscriptions, business plans, and usage-based API fees. Siblings Dario and Daniela Amodei founded Anthropic in 2021 with other former OpenAI employees, and it is based in San Francisco.

What believers are saying

  • Sales are multiplying: Anthropic's yearly revenue pace topped $65 billion in July 2026, over sevenfold since December 2025.
  • IPO plans advanced: October 2026 reports describe investor meetings and a mid-November listing target; staff shares face lockups.
  • Lower office minimum: 627 of 646 Anthropic job posts in October 2026 require at least 25% office time.

What critics are saying

  • Job security rides on growth: Anthropic's IPO prospectus lists $518 billion in cloud and computing bills due in coming years.
  • Defense work stays off-limits: in September 2026, appeals judges voted 2-1 to let the Pentagon keep blacklisting Anthropic.
  • Growth is priced in: Anthropic's valuation reached $965 billion in May 2026, up from $380 billion in February.

What makes Anthropic unique

  • Investors don't control its board alone: Anthropic's independent Long-Term Benefit Trust elects a growing number of directors.
  • It isn't tied to one chipmaker: Claude runs on Nvidia GPUs plus custom AI chips designed by Google and Amazon.
  • It holds back its riskiest model: Claude Mythos 5.1, launched September 2026, goes only to vetted cyberdefenders and life scientists.

Anthropic previews Claude Duet, a proactive AI agent rivalling Meta's Muse and OpenAI's Dots

Anthropic on Wednesday announced a preview of Claude Duet, an AI agent for small businesses and professionals. It can send daily briefs, keep tabs on connected apps, and carry out tasks such as building dashboards, scheduling meetings, and creating financial forecasts. The launch follows Meta's Muse, which topped Apple's App Store after its launch last month, and OpenAI's Dots. Meta chief executive officer Mark Zuckerberg said more than 10 million people in the US and Canada have set up Muse agents. Anthropic said Duet is still early and "might misread a thread or miscalibrate what's urgent." Personal errands, such as booking tickets, are not "quite as strong." A waitlist is open. Pro and Max subscribers can use the preview through a standalone app or the Claude website.

Eric Schmidt's 1% Anthropic stake could be worth $20B, thanks to an introduction from his ex

Eric Schmidt's early bet on Anthropic could be worth as much as $20 billion if the AI company goes public at its $2 trillion target, Bloomberg reported. The former Google chief executive officer reportedly owns a 1% stake, and the listing could come as soon as next month. Schmidt's link to Anthropic came through Cami Clark, whom he dated for three years from 2011. She later married Anthropic co-founder Dario Amodei and introduced the two men. Schmidt joined Anthropic's $124 million Series A round in 2021, investing tens of millions, sources said. PitchBook data valued the company at $461 million then; it is now valued at $965 billion. Anthropic made $16.3 billion in revenue in the first half of this year, up from $1.1 billion a year earlier.

Anthropic adds Harvard astrophysicist to trust that elects its board majority ahead of IPO

Anthropic has named Harvard University astrophysicist Christopher Stubbs to its Long-Term Benefit Trust, which can elect a majority of the AI company's board. The arrangement may face more pressure if Anthropic goes public, as widely expected as soon as next month. Stubbs helped show that the universe's expansion is accelerating, and shared the 2015 Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics. He is the first physicist on the Trust and fills one of two open seats. He joins Neil Buddy Shah, Richard Fontaine, and Ben Bernanke. Reports suggest the IPO could value Anthropic at more than $2 trillion; it was valued at $965 billion in a May funding round. Last weekend, Anthropic said it would put 5% of its shares into a new Public Benefit Fund, separate from the Trust.

Amodei defends Anthropic's "race to the top" in 2,000-word reply to safety critic

Anthropic chief executive officer Dario Amodei has defended the company's "race to the top" strategy after a critic said it was putting AI safety in the back seat. On Tuesday, he published a response of nearly 2,000 words to an X post by Nathan Calvin, chief strategy officer of nonprofit Encode AI. Calvin listed nine actions he said undermined Anthropic's safety commitments, including deals for more than $500 billion in compute and growing reliance on Claude to build its models. Amodei said Anthropic can do more for industry safety by staying at the frontier. He listed nine costly choices with safety benefits, such as limiting its Mythos model to select cybersecurity partners. He conceded the company could have handled some issues better, including a draft bill circulated to Congress. Anthropic is reportedly nearing an IPO at a $2 trillion valuation in November. It reported third-quarter revenue of $16.8 billion.

Musk pledges SpaceX shares to every US child, a day after Anthropic's 5% fund

Elon Musk said on X on Monday that next year he would give every child in America one SpaceX share. He called the donations "the first of many." The post drew over 33 million views in a day. President Donald Trump thanked Musk for his "incredible generosity." No plan has emerged. Musk did not explain the pledge on SpaceX's Tuesday earnings call, where the company reported a 161% rise in revenue from a year earlier. He hinted the shares could go through the new "Trump Accounts" program, which CNBC said may limit when recipients can sell. The pledge came one day after rival Anthropic announced a "Public Benefit Fund" and plans to donate 5% of its shares to it. Musk suggested Anthropic give shares "directly to the public," then said four hours later, "This is what I will be doing.
