Requirements
  • Experience designing decision-making systems at scale, such as ad targeting, recommendation engines, marketplace matching, or campaign orchestration.
  • Ability to design data schemas that handle business complexity and make informed tradeoffs among normalized relational models, entity-attribute-value patterns, and JSONB.
  • Experience migrating production systems incrementally while they remain operational.
  • Ability to measure system performance, surface failures proactively, and use outcome data to improve systems.
  • Ability to write clear technical design documents.
Responsibilities
  • Own core platform systems as the company scales.
  • Shape technical direction, make architectural decisions, and ship systems end-to-end.
  • Build configurable and auditable decision logic that determines which customers to contact, when, and why.
  • Build trustworthy, queryable, and actionable data infrastructure for targeting, reporting, and client-facing products.
  • Connect real-time technician availability to outreach decisions, agent conversations, and client reporting.
  • Build client-facing dashboards, attribution, full-funnel tracking, and alerting for campaign visibility.
  • Design migration strategies, run parallel validation, and cut over production systems without disrupting active campaigns.

Upsmith offers a human resources tech platform called Boost that helps companies improve employee performance and retention. The platform lets businesses set specific goals for employees, track progress, and reward high performers. Rewards go beyond money and can include prizes, creating a more engaging incentive system. This approach aims to boost productivity and loyalty while lowering turnover and recruitment/training costs. Compared with typical HR tools, Upsmith combines goal-setting, progress monitoring, and prize-based rewards to drive engagement rather than focusing only on compensation. The company's goal is to help organizations increase revenue and reduce costs by enhancing output, reducing turnover, and fostering a stronger performance culture through structured incentives.

What believers are saying

  • JennyAI targets the $500 billion home-services market with automated lead conversion.
  • UpSmith raised $5M seed funding in 2024 from Hannah Grey, a16z, and GSV.

What critics are saying

  • UpSmith serves a narrow home-services niche; ServiceTitan can commoditize the workflow layer.
  • JennyAI launched March 25, 2025, but public customer traction remains thin.
  • Seven-figure seed capital limits runway; slower adoption kills the business before scale.

What makes UpSmith unique

  • JennyAI integrates with ServiceTitan, using customer data to generate appointments.
  • ACCA partnership gives UpSmith direct distribution into HVACR contractors in 2025.

Family Ties partners with UpSmith to launch AI-powered Tech Pack for home services operations

Family Ties Air, Plumbing & Drain has partnered with UpSmith to implement AI-powered technology across its operations. The Riverside, California-based home services company will deploy UpSmith's platform as its company-wide operating system, connecting call centre staff, technicians, managers, and executives through real-time data. The system integrates with Family Ties' existing field-service management platform, adding AI capabilities without replacing current systems. Features include AI-assisted call handling, automated follow-up on estimates, cancellation recovery, and executive dashboards tracking performance metrics. "Technology is the new normal. You either adapt with it, or you're out of business," said Jeremy Prevost, owner of Family Ties. The partnership aims to enhance customer service whilst providing employees with better tools and information to improve performance across the residential HVAC, plumbing, and drainage service provider's operations throughout Southern California.
