About the job

Requirements
  • Have 2–3 years of experience building digital products while both designing and implementing the front end, and provide a portfolio showing shipped work rather than only mockups.
  • Demonstrate strong interaction design and layout craft, with attention to detail in dense, data-heavy interfaces involving tables, filters, multi-step flows, and role-based views.
  • Demonstrate fluency with Claude Design or comparable AI design/build tools and provide examples of their use in shipping work.
  • Be proficient in Figma, including components, libraries, auto-layout, and prototyping.
  • Be comfortable working with ambiguity, making judgment calls with incomplete information, and moving between design and code in the same day.
  • Understand accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.1 AA.
  • Explain design decisions in terms of user outcomes and tradeoffs, not only aesthetics.
  • Be based in the San Francisco Bay Area and energized by an in-office Monday-through-Thursday collaborative culture.
Responsibilities
  • Take features from concept through interaction design and prototyping, with an interest in front-end implementation.
  • Build and maintain interfaces in the codebase using Hotwire and Next.js, partnering with Engineering on architecture, state, and performance.
  • Use Claude Design and other AI tools to create rapid prototypes, explore multiple directions, and build working components, applying judgment to assess their quality.
  • Improve UX across intake, approvals, document generation, evaluations, configuration, and reporting by addressing inconsistencies and usability gaps.
  • Contribute to the design system by using and extending components, patterns, and libraries in code.
  • Help shape how AI appears in the product so AuthorAI feels context-aware and trustworthy to users with varying levels of AI comfort.
  • Design and build for accessibility and compliance from the start, meeting WCAG 2.1 AA.
  • Review work against design intent through delivery and maintain fidelity and polish.
  • Work in sprints, manage work in Jira, and participate in planning and grooming.
  • Partner with product managers to frame problems and make scope tradeoffs, and with Engineering on feasibility and front-end quality.
  • Talk to users through lightweight usability checks and observation of real workflows, then use findings to improve interfaces.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with dense, workflow-driven enterprise or B2B products.
  • Exposure to government, public-sector, or other regulated or compliance-driven environments.
  • Experience with product analytics tools such as Pendo, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar.
  • Experience integrating AI features into a product UI.

About the company

Authorium offers a cloud-based software platform that automates and streamlines administrative tasks for government agencies. It handles document-centric workflows across procurement, contracting, policy and HR management, and grant administration, bringing these processes into one unified system from start to finish. The product is delivered as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) for public sector clients, enabling agencies to manage workflows and documents securely online. What sets Authorium apart is its explicit focus on unifying multiple government-specific workflows in a single platform, designed to fit procurement and grant management needs of public agencies rather than generic enterprise tools. The company’s goal is to help government entities modernize their operations, improve efficiency, and scale administrative functions as part of public administration modernization.

What believers are saying

  • Authorium raised $8 million in April 2025, funding hiring and product development.
  • Amy Tong joined August 2026, strengthening California-to-national government procurement expansion.
  • Chi-Kai Chien joined March 2026, signaling engineering investment after FedRAMP High certification.

What critics are saying

  • Federal procurement cycles stay slow; revenue depends on budget approvals and long sales periods.
  • Carahsoft contract entries show key public-sector channels, but renewals expire in 2025-2027.
  • If AWS GovCloud or FedRAMP processes slip, Authorium loses its core security advantage.

What makes Authorium unique

  • FedRAMP High authorization gives Authorium rare credibility for sensitive federal workflows.
  • AWS GovCloud hosting and NIST 800-53 controls separate it from generic SaaS vendors.
  • Authorium focuses narrowly on procurement, grants, and contracts across government operations.
