About the company

Tesla makes electric cars and batteries that store power for homes and utilities, and it develops self-driving software and humanoid robots. In 2023, its Model Y became the first electric vehicle to rank as the world's best-selling car. Buyers order the Model 3 sedan, Model Y SUV, or Cybertruck pickup directly from Tesla instead of through dealers, and they charge on its Supercharger fast-charging network. It also sells Megapack and Powerwall batteries, runs a robotaxi service, and charges drivers a monthly fee for self-driving software that still needs their supervision. Tesla was founded in 2003, with Elon Musk as its lead early investor and a recognized co-founder, and it is based in Austin, Texas.

Tesla nears 1,000 India registrations in 2026 as parent injects $10.2M in equity

Tesla is close to 1,000 vehicle registrations in India this year, with 990 recorded between January 1 and October 26, according to Vahan data compiled by Flash Finance. In October alone, Tesla registered 220 cars through October 26, ahead of Mercedes-Benz's 47 but behind BMW's 349. Tesla's overseas shareholders put about ₹86 crore of fresh equity into its Indian unit in FY26, lifting equity capital from ₹50 crore to about ₹136 crore. The unit's net profit rose to ₹5.16 crore from ₹55.49 lakh, while revenue reached ₹247.31 crore. The Model Y now starts at ₹50.89 lakh after a ₹9 lakh price cut.

Tesla shares jump 5.34% to $392.09 as Barclays raises target to $450

Tesla shares rose 5.34% to $392.09 in Monday's regular session after Barclays upgraded the stock and raised its price target to $450 from $370, Barron's reported. That implies about 14.8% upside from the new price. In its third quarter, Tesla reported revenue of about $28.0 billion. Automotive revenue fell 3% to about $20.6 billion, while capital spending reached roughly $4.7 billion. The company's filing puts expected 2026 capital expenditure above $20 billion, covering computing infrastructure, manufacturing and research facilities. The shares trade 11.51% above the $351.62 GF Value estimate. Investors now want proof that vehicle sales, autonomy revenue and manufacturing efficiency can generate enough cash to fund that spending.

Tesla's AI push wins Wall Street support as BNP Paribas lifts target to $420 from $266

Tesla beat Wall Street forecasts in the third quarter, earning $0.48 per share against the Zacks consensus estimate of $0.43. Revenue was $28.05 billion, compared with an average estimate of $27.90 billion. BNP Paribas upgraded the stock to Neutral from Underperform and raised its price target to $420 from $266. Canaccord lifted its target to $442 from $410 and kept its Buy rating, citing Tesla's long-term potential in AI, connectivity, and physical technologies. Bank of America reaffirmed its Buy rating and $460 target, pointing to wider acceptance of self-driving software, robotaxi growth, and the early ramp-up of Optimus. BNP Paribas also said a potential merger with SpaceX has become a significant value consideration. Investors still question execution, as Tesla keeps spending heavily and much of the upside depends on businesses beyond vehicle sales.

Tesla cedes EV crown to chase autonomy, pushing rivals from GM to Volvo to follow

Tesla's push into autonomy is forcing traditional carmakers to rethink their strategies, as electric vehicles with similar ranges and prices proliferate. General Motors last year hired former Tesla executive Sterling Anderson to oversee product development, with a mandate to build fully autonomous personal cars. BMW and Mercedes-Benz have partnered with Qualcomm and Nvidia on "Level 2 plus" driver assistance, which needs a human to monitor the road. Volvo Cars chief executive Håkan Samuelsson said Tesla is "probably leading the development in the West." He said Volvo and Nvidia will deliver door-to-door automated cars soon. Igal Raichelgauz, chief executive of Autobrains, said carmakers want subscription models built on eyes-off technology to create new revenue. Xpeng, Hyundai, and Toyota are expanding into robotics, while GM and Ford pursue energy storage.
