Requirements
  • At least 2 years of experience originating Community Reinvestment Act residential mortgages.
  • An established referral network capable of providing Community Reinvestment Act mortgage leads.
  • Prior experience using loan origination software and Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage products and underwriting requirements for Federal Housing Administration, Veterans Affairs, United States Department of Agriculture, and Community Reinvestment Act mortgage programs.
  • A Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, four years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A Mortgage Loan Originator license with the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System, or the ability to obtain one.
  • Training in all areas of mortgage lending.
  • Maintenance of employer- and industry-required continuing education.
  • Compliance with Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, Office of Foreign Assets Control, suspicious activity reporting, and other lending and deposit compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Originate mortgage loans through established referral partners, community organizations, housing agencies, local business leaders, realtors, builders, and other referral sources, with a primary focus on mortgage lending in Low- to Moderate-Income areas.
  • Promote home ownership in Low- to Moderate-Income communities.
  • Self-source mortgage leads and convert them into applications.
  • Present personalized mortgage products and solutions to potential customers.
  • Produce required disclosures and procure intent to proceed.
  • Collect borrower documents needed to satisfy loan conditions.
  • Work with internal departments to support a superior customer experience and timely loan closing.
  • Consistently achieve monthly loan production volume specified in the Mortgage Loan Originator Agreement.
  • Generate new business to help meet established Community Reinvestment Act goals.
  • Develop and maintain a business plan for growth of the business area.
  • Evaluate potential customers' needs and offer appropriate mortgage products and services, or refer them to an appropriate Bank specialist.
  • Prepare and compile mortgage applications and information for processing.
  • Ensure completeness of loan documentation.
  • Oversee timely closing and funding of loans.
  • Provide ongoing relationship servicing to current mortgage customers to maintain goodwill and generate additional business.
  • Respond to mortgage inquiries and account-related requests.
  • Promote and cross-sell other bank products and services when appropriate to customer requirements.
  • Provide data to support marketing and sales promotion programs.
  • Work directly with the Community Development Operating Council to assist with Community Reinvestment Act loan initiatives in the local market.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and First Financial Bank policies and procedures.
