Requirements
  • At least 1 year of professional experience in software quality engineering, quality assurance automation, software testing, or a closely related software engineering discipline.
  • Programming proficiency in Python or another modern object-oriented language such as Java, Kotlin, or Go, with the ability to write readable and maintainable test code.
  • Demonstrated experience testing backend systems, REST APIs, or service integrations, including validation of response contracts, error handling, and data integrity.
  • Hands-on experience writing and maintaining automated tests using a structured framework such as pytest, JUnit, TestNG, or an equivalent framework.
  • Working familiarity with REST API concepts and tooling, including HTTP methods, status codes, request and response structure, and tools such as Postman or curl.
  • Working familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery pipeline concepts and how automated tests integrate into build and release workflows, such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
  • Ability to debug and investigate failures across application logic, API behavior, data state, and test infrastructure using logs, error output, and systematic isolation techniques.
  • Foundational understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies and how quality engineering activities map to design, development, and release phases.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Responsibilities
  • Execute functional, integration, regression, and exploratory testing for backend services, APIs, and pricing workflows across Apple Services.
  • Develop and maintain automated tests and test utilities for backend systems using maintainable, well-structured code that integrates into shared test infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Product partners during feature design and development to understand requirements, identify testability gaps, and define coverage strategies.
  • Debug failures across APIs, services, log output, and test environments using structured diagnostic approaches, and document findings to support root cause resolution.
  • Contribute to continuous integration and continuous delivery pipeline automation, including test integration, execution reporting, and release validation workflows.
  • Measure and improve test reliability, automation coverage, and execution efficiency using defined quality metrics.
  • Participate in test planning sessions, feature reviews, and quality discussions across the development lifecycle.
  • Evaluate and apply artificial intelligence-assisted testing tools, such as automated test case generation and coverage gap analysis, where they reduce manual overhead and accelerate feedback cycles.
  • Produce structured quality status updates, risk summaries, and release readiness assessments for engineering and cross-functional stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with pytest or comparable backend automation frameworks, including fixture management, parameterization, and test organization patterns.
  • Experience validating complex business logic in pricing systems, financial workflows, transactional systems, or billing platforms, including boundary condition and edge case analysis.
  • Experience with data validation and SQL, including querying databases to verify data accuracy, transformation correctness, and system-of-record consistency.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems or service-oriented architectures, including an understanding of how failures propagate across service boundaries.
  • Familiarity with cloud and containerized environments such as AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, or Docker, particularly in the context of test environment setup and debugging.
  • Experience with observability and debugging tooling, including structured log analysis, metrics dashboards such as Grafana and Datadog, or distributed tracing platforms.
  • Experience evaluating or applying AI-assisted testing tools for test case generation, anomaly detection, or coverage analysis.
  • Ability to communicate technical quality findings to engineering and non-engineering stakeholders, adapting the level of detail and framing to the audience.
  • Experience contributing to test strategy documentation, including risk-based test plans, coverage matrices, or release readiness checklists.

Apple designs, manufactures, and sells hardware and software across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple TV, plus services like the App Store, Apple Music, iCloud, and Apple Pay. Morgan Stanley sets $360 Apple target on AI innovation and 690M upgrade opportunity

Morgan Stanley analyst Erik Woodring has maintained an overweight rating on Apple with a $360 price target, citing accelerated innovation at the company's September product event. The analyst highlighted Apple's first foldable iPhone, new A20 chips, and enhanced Siri capabilities as signs of stronger momentum under new CEO John Ternus, who recently replaced Tim Cook. Woodring noted that 57% of Apple's installed base—roughly 690 million devices—runs phones older than the iPhone 15 Pro, whilst 87% cannot handle complex Siri AI workloads. With consumers keeping iPhones for over four years, this creates significant upgrade potential. Apple recently reported strong fiscal third-quarter results with revenue of $109.4 billion, up 16% year-over-year, and earnings per share of $2.02, up 29%.

Bank of America cuts Apple price target to $370 after iPhone Duo foldable launch

Bank of America cut its Apple price target to $370 from $380 whilst maintaining a Buy rating, following the iPhone Duo launch under new CEO John Ternus. Analyst Wamsi Mohan cited lower-than-expected iPhone pricing pressuring gross margins amid elevated component costs. The iPhone Duo, Apple's first foldable phone, features a 7.6-inch inner display and 5.4-inch outer display, both supporting Dynamic Island and 120Hz ProMotion. Starting at $1,999, it launches 23 October with pre-orders opening 16 October. Mohan called the foldable the event's standout, noting its potential to reach mainstream audiences through features like dual capture in FaceTime. Citi described it as Apple's biggest new hardware category since the Watch and AirPods.

Apple Watch can record 15 seconds of conversation without both speakers' consent

Apple's new Watch Series 12 features Audio Intelligence capabilities that can record conversations without consent from all parties. The Live Rewind function captures 15 seconds of conversation and converts it to text after the wearer double-presses the Digital Crown. Whilst the watch emits an audible tone to alert nearby people, this doesn't constitute legal consent in 11 US states requiring all-party consent for recordings. The watch processes audio through its S11 chip and nearby iPhone, discarding the original recording after creating text. Siri Recap summarises conversations throughout the day without retaining audio or identifying speakers. The Electronic Frontier Foundation criticised the feature, arguing people lack practical means to consent or decline recording. EFF's Adam Schwartz warned the technology threatens conversational privacy and spontaneity, urging users to reconsider using it out of respect for others.

AT&T CEO dismisses $2K Apple iPhone Duo as 'not new', doubts foldable will break niche status

AT&T CEO John Stankey expressed scepticism about Apple's newly unveiled foldable iPhone Duo, priced at $1,999. Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia and Technology Conference, Stankey said the device is "not new", noting that Android manufacturers like Samsung and Google have sold foldables for years without broad market success. "What we've seen is that it tends to function more as a specific niche type application as opposed to [being] broadly accepted," Stankey said. He acknowledged Apple could prove him wrong but doubted it would change market dynamics significantly. IDC analyst Francisco Jeronimo estimates foldables represent only about 2.2% of global smartphone sales in 2026. Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 retails for $1,899.

Apple's foldable iPhone Duo starts at $1,999, but will shoppers actually buy it?

Apple unveiled its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, priced from $1,999 to $3,199. The device features a 7.6-inch inner display and 5.4-inch outer screen, allowing users to run two apps simultaneously. The Duo costs $800 more than Apple's new iPhone 18 Pro. CEO John Ternus called it "the most transformational change to iPhone since the original". Whilst Samsung, Huawei, Google, and Motorola already sell foldables, these devices remain niche. IDC expects global foldable shipments to reach 22.9 million units in 2026, representing just over 2% of the smartphone market. However, analysts believe Apple's entry could shift the landscape. IDC forecasts Apple will ship over 17 million foldable iPhones by 2027, capturing roughly 40% of the global foldables market. The company's large customer base may drive broader adoption of the expensive new format.
