Ripple highlights privacy requirements for XRPL adoption at XRP Seoul 2026. 2026-10-04 04:55:04 Key takeaways. * Ripple highlighted privacy as a key requirement for XRPL adoption at XRP Seoul 2026. * XRPL Confidential Transfers use EC-ElGamal encryption and zero-knowledge proofs to hide token balances. * Ripple identified confidential collateral as an institutional use case for regulated finance. RippleX engineering leader Ayo Akinyele highlighted privacy as a key requirement for XRPL adoption during XRP Seoul 2026, emphasizing that regulated finance needs confidentiality without sacrificing auditability and neutrality of public blockchain infrastructure. The announcement builds on Ripple's existing privacy roadmap, which argues that institutional adoption requires selective confidentiality directly at the protocol level rather than a private version of XRPL. Ripple is developing features that enable public settlement with private financial information, targeting banks and regulated institutions that need to hide transaction amounts while maintaining compliance capabilities. XRPL Confidential Transfers use EC-ElGamal encryption and zero-knowledge proofs. XRPL's official Confidential Transfers documentation describes a system using EC-ElGamal encryption and zero-knowledge proofs to hide Multi-Purpose Token balances and transfer amounts from the public ledger. Validators can verify that transactions are valid without seeing the underlying amount. Issuers can designate auditors that are able to decrypt balances for regulatory or compliance purposes. That creates a middle ground for banks: public settlement with private financial information. The XRPL 3.3.0 upgrade introduced ConfidentialTransfer for amendment voting alongside Batch, Permission Delegation and other institutional-focused features. Ripple identifies confidential collateral as institutional use case. Developers are exploring permissioned liquidity pools that could restrict AMM participation to credentialed users. Combined with Credentials, Permissioned Domains and confidential token transfers, the emerging model resembles regulated financial infrastructure built on a public ledger. Ripple has specifically identified confidential collateral as an institutional use case. A bank may need to prove that collateral exists and satisfies requirements without publicly exposing the size of a client's position, counterparties or trading strategy. Its broader institutional DeFi roadmap points to proof of reserves, private settlement and compliance verification as potential zero-knowledge applications. Faq. Ripple News: Ripple eyes 2027 credit launch Using XRP to fund payments. Key Insights: * Ripple news reports a planned 2027 credit launch using XRP to fund payments. * Ripple plans wider XRPL decentralized exchange use in 2027 after a successful pilot. * Long says tokenized funds can support 24-hour collateral access and real-time borrowing. Ripple news centers on plans to launch credit services using XRP collateral to fund customer payments. President Monica Long said the company is conducting a pilot program, with activation targeted for 2027. The initiative would connect lending protocols with Ripple's payment infrastructure, creating another use for XRP within its financial services business. Speaking on October 3, Long explained that many Ripple payment customers already use short-term credit to meet their funding needs. A large portion operates as service providers, making access to financing relevant to their existing payment operations. The leading blockchain firm is exploring how the XRP Ledger, or XRPL, could help address those requirements through lending protocols. Ripple News Puts 2027 XRP Credit Plans in Focus Ripple President Monica Long outlined the proposed structure during a fireside chat with Christina Chan, Ripple's senior director of ecosystem growth. Under that structure, XRP invested in lending pools could serve as collateral to finance part of customers' payment obligations. The company aims to connect those pooled assets with the funding requirements of its payments business. Ripple News: Launch of Credit Using XRP in 2027 | Source: X That approach, in connection with Ripple news, would extend the role of XRP crypto beyond the bridge-currency function Long described as a longstanding focus. Instead, the proposed service would also connect the asset with credit used to support payment activity. Long said the company is testing this approach before its targeted activation next year. The credit initiative on Ripple news forms part of an effort to connect Ripple's customers with infrastructure on the XRP Ledger. Alongside these pilots, the company has tested the ledger's decentralized exchange as a component of its payment operations. Long said that the separate pilot succeeded this year and proved its benefits, supporting plans for further expansion. XRP Payments Strategy Includes Wider DEX Integration Building on those results, Ripple plans to expand its use of the XRPL decentralized exchange in 2027. Long said exchange functionality would become a core component of the company's payment infrastructure engine. This work accompanies the credit pilots as Ripple develops its broader XRP payments strategy. However, the company's experience also changed its approach to helping institutions use blockchain infrastructure. Ripple previously expected financial institutions to integrate directly with decentralized exchanges, but adoption raised permissioning, privacy, and control requirements. Long said Ripple recognized that it could handle those matters on the customers' behalf. According to Ripple news, that experience now leads to discussions about moving more customer transaction volume directly onto XRP Ledger (XRPL). Long said Ripple is considering this as a company-wide objective within its developing 2027 annual plan. She pointed to the ledger's speed and low costs when describing opportunities to bring existing payment activity on-chain. Ripple News: Institutional Demand Extends Into Collateral Markets Beyond payments, Long said financial institutions continue to seek to understand how blockchain can improve their existing infrastructure. She attributed that shift to greater regulatory clarity after years of discussions about the technology's benefits. Those conversations are now starting to address implementation and efficiency, according to her remarks. Within that broader shift, Long highlighted interest in using blockchain to connect collateral and capital markets across borders. She said tokenized treasuries and money market funds offer around-the-clock availability, supporting collateral posting and real-time borrowing. These applications extend the institutional discussion beyond payment transfers into other funding activities. Long also identified utility, liquidity, and trust as essential qualities for XRP's long-term use. She said greater participation from institutions and startups could reinforce those qualities as on-chain activity expands. Ripple's credit pilots remain underway, with the company targeting activation next year.
XRP ETFs log Bitwise outflow as Ripple pitches tokenized assets at XRP Seoul. By Nora Bennett Holders of U.S. spot XRP exchange-traded funds are now roughly $133 million underwater on their positions, by Bitcoin.com News' tally. The figure lands at the end of a week in which the token gave back ground and the funds saw money leave. XRP traded at $1.48 at last check, down 3.66% over 24 hours. That puts it nearly half below where it stood a year ago, even after a 10% gain over the past month. The two halves of the XRP story pulled in different directions this week. In the funds, investors were trimming. At the XRP Seoul event, Ripple's leadership was making the case for a much larger role for the XRP Ledger in institutional finance. A $3.28 million exit, all from Bitwise. Spot XRP ETFs recorded a net outflow of $3.28 million on Oct. 2, according to SoSoValue data. Every dollar of it came out of Bitwise's product. None of the other funds in the group saw net redemptions that day. Combined net assets across the U.S. spot XRP funds ended the session at $1.658 billion, a drop of about $37 million. Flows explain only a small part of that. The $3.28 million that left accounts for less than a tenth of the decline. The remaining $34 million or so reflects the falling value of the XRP the funds already hold. Redemptions, in other words, were modest. Price did most of the damage. That distinction matters for reading the $133 million paper-loss estimate. The number tracks how far the token has fallen below the average level at which money entered these products. It does not mean investors are heading for the exits in size. A single-day outflow concentrated in one issuer looks more like position adjustment at Bitwise than a broad retreat from the category. One day of data can't settle that question, though. The broader trend in XRP itself gives fund holders some cover and some reason for caution. The token is up 27.23% over 90 days and 10.03% over 30. On a one-year view it is down 47.54%, which implies a price near $2.82 twelve months ago. Anyone who bought into the theme near those levels is still well short of breakeven. Monica Long's on-chain pitch in Seoul. The mood at XRP Seoul ran the other way. Ripple President Monica Long used the event to describe a shift toward on-chain finance. She presented the XRP Ledger as infrastructure that institutions are adopting in growing numbers. The headline ambition was $30 billion in tokenized real-world assets on XRPL, a target reported by Coinpedia from the event. The coverage available so far doesn't say what timeline sits behind that $30 billion figure, which asset classes it counts, or how much of it is already committed versus projected. Those details will decide whether the number describes a pipeline or an aspiration. For now it is a stated goal rather than a measured total. Tokenized real-world assets have become the main argument for ledgers like XRPL beyond payments. The idea is to move bonds, funds and other traditional instruments onto a blockchain where they can settle and trade with less friction. Several networks are competing for that business. Ripple's message in Seoul was that XRPL intends to be one of the main venues for it. The live coverage from Seoul also included announcements from projects working around the edges of the ecosystem. Tria said it had expanded its self-custodial financial platform to 150 countries, offering decentralized trading across digital assets. The update appeared in Coinpedia's running event coverage. The reports don't make clear how directly Tria's expansion ties to the XRP Ledger itself. Its model looks past the outflow. The short-term tape and the longer-term case point in different directions, and WalletInvestor's model sides with the longer view. It rates XRP A+. The near-term projections are flat: +0.90% over seven days and +1.80% over 14. Nothing there suggests a sharp rebound from this week's slide. The model's longer horizons are where it diverges from the gloom in the ETF numbers. It projects an 11.83% gain over three months and 24.32% over six. On a one-year view it projects +51.86%, which from $1.48 would put XRP near $2.25. That would still sit below where the token traded a year ago, so even the model's constructive case doesn't fully repair last year's losses. Over five years the projection rises to +307.37%. The full breakdown is on WalletInvestor's XRP price forecast page. Those are model outputs, not reported facts, and they describe a different time frame than the one ETF holders are reacting to. A fund investor watching a $37 million daily drop in net assets is dealing with this week's price. The model is weighing a trend that includes a strong 90-day run. 2,920 tokens for the top tenth. A separate rich-list breakdown circulating this week offered a different angle on who holds XRP. It put the threshold for the top 10% of XRP wallets at about 2,920 tokens. At the current $1.48 price, that's roughly $4,320 worth. The same breakdown placed the cutoff for the top 5% at 7,300 XRP, or about $10,800 at today's price. Coinpedia reported the figures as estimates, and they deserve that label. Wallet counts don't map neatly onto people. One holder can spread tokens across many addresses. Exchanges, by contrast, pool the holdings of millions of customers into a handful of wallets. A rich list measures addresses, so the thresholds say more about how XRP is spread across the ledger than about how wealth is distributed among individual owners. The figures do suggest a long tail of small balances. If fewer than 3,000 tokens is enough to clear 90% of wallets, the typical address holds a fairly small amount. That fits a token with a large retail following, the same base that ETF issuers were hoping to reach through a regulated wrapper. Whether that wrapper has caught on is still unresolved. The funds hold $1.658 billion, a meaningful sum for a product category this young. But the most recent flow was negative. The latest price move cut deeper into assets than redemptions did, and Bitwise was the only issuer to see money leave on Oct. 2. XRP price outlook: 4 major events to watch in the first week of October. Story Highlights * XRP enters October with four major events that could influence its next price move. * XRP Seoul on October 3 will focus on XRPL adoption among financial institutions. * XRP could target $2.90 if it breaks the $1.60 resistance and sustains bullish momentum. XRP is entering October with four major events that could shape its next move. XRP Seoul, the Evernorth acquisition, the XRPN Nasdaq launch, and an XRPL upgrade are all coming within days. With XRP near $1.58 and up 16.2% this week, traders are watching whether these events can help drive a move toward $2.90. Oct. 3: XRP Seoul opens a busy October. The first major date is Oct. 3, when XRP Seoul is set to bring banks, financial institutions, and Ripple teams together in South Korea. The event is expected to focus on using the XRP Ledger (XRPL) for cross-border payments and other financial services. RLUSD, Ripple's stablecoin, is also part of this push and has recently crossed a $2 billion market cap. Discussions around XRPL's automated market makers (AMMs) and compliance features could also increase interest from Asian financial institutions. Oct. 7: Evernorth deal brings more institutional exposure. Just four days later, another development could add to XRP's institutional story. The planned acquisition of Evernorth by Ripple-linked entities is scheduled to reach completion on Oct. 7. Evernorth operates in digital infrastructure and asset management. Its integration could add institutional custody and real-world asset (RWA) infrastructure to the broader ecosystem, further connecting XRP with traditional financial services. Oct. 8: XRPN adds another XRP investment route. The momentum continues on Oct. 8, when XRPN is scheduled to begin trading on the Nasdaq. The launch comes as XRP investment products are already attracting strong demand. Bitwise's XRP ETF has recorded $676.2 million in inflows, while Franklin Templeton's XRPZ has reached $500.9 million. With another XRP product entering the market, attention will turn to whether it can bring more demand through traditional brokerage accounts. Oct. 9: XRPL upgrade brings the week to a close. The busy week ends with a major technical event on Oct. 9, when the XRP Ledger mainnet upgrade window is scheduled to open. The upgrade also includes improvements linked to multi-signature verification and decentralized verifier networks (DVNs). At the same time, the U.S. SEC's crypto guidance FAQs have addressed routine software updates on fully functional networks, stating that such changes do not automatically create investment contracts under the Howey test. XRP price outlook: $2.90. These four major events could give XRP fresh support in Q4 2026 as institutional demand remains strong. Technical analyst Dark Defender sees heavy resistance near $1.60, where around 2.5 billion XRP could act as a seller wall. A break above it could open targets at $1.88 and $2.90. A daily close above $1.5692 could also push XRP toward $2.90 and $4.11, according to his chart setup. Meanwhile, U.S. spot XRP ETFs have posted 11 straight weeks of inflows, taking cumulative inflows above $1.79 billion.
CSD BR and Ripple launch XRP asset tokenization in Brazil. Last Updated September 30, 2026 Key Highlights: * CSD BR and Ripple are using the XRP Ledger to mirror financial asset records in Brazil, beginning with BTG Pactual investment fund shares. * CSD BR will remain the official source of record, while blockchain will offer an extra layer for transparent verification. * The alliance could extend to native asset issuance, with CRA and CRI assets among those considered for upcoming phases. Brazil is taking another step forward in blockchain-based financial infrastructure as CSD BR and Ripple begin the first phase of a strategic alliance focused on asset tokenization. The initiative combines CSD BR's governed infrastructure as a registrar, central securities depository and settlement system with the XRP Ledger (XRPL). The initial phase will use the public blockchain as a complementary layer for recording and auditing financial assets, beginning with BTG Pactual investment fund shares. CSD BR will continue to maintain the official records, while authorized participants will be able to use the blockchain to verify records transparently and in real time. CSD BR Uses the XRP Ledger for Tokenized Assets. According to the press release, under the first phase, BTG Pactual investment fund shares deposited at CSD BR will be tokenized and mirrored on the XRP Ledger using the Multi-Purpose Token (MPT) standard. The blockchain will not replace CSD BR's current systems. Instead, it will operate as an extra layer for querying and auditing financial asset records. CSD BR will remain the official source of record for registration, deposit and settlement. As per CSD BR, the model allows authorized participants to validate the consistency of records in a transparent and near-real-time environment. The initiative will also allow organizations to evaluate blockchain technology through live transactions rather than depending solely on pilots or proofs of concept. CSD BR currently has more than BRL 22 trillion in registered assets and operates infrastructure capable of processing millions of transactions within minutes. The alliance is intended to evaluate potential improvements in transparency, traceability, automation and efficiency while operating within the current governance framework. The blockchain environment will operate on a permissioned basis for corporate and banking clients in Brazil. Participants will be subject to regulatory Know Your Customer (KYC) and anti-money laundering (AML) requirements. Ripple's custody infrastructure will work alongside the native capabilities of XRPL to support the tokenized assets in this environment. CSD BR will continue to control the issuance and administration of the assets, including participant authorization. The infrastructure will also retain compliance functions such as freezing individual assets and reversing transactions through clawback mechanisms when required by regulatory or judicial orders. Daniel Polano Spreafico, Head of Products and Clients at CSD BR, said the company chose record mirroring as the starting point because it allows the technology to be introduced into critical market infrastructure without changing present processes for stakeholders, issuers and participants. The initial approach is designed to allow CSD BR to assess how blockchain performs under real operating conditions while establishing a foundation for potential future applications. What are the next steps for CSD BR and Ripple? Following validation of the initial mirroring phase, CSD BR and Ripple plan to slowly expand the use of blockchain infrastructure towards native asset issuance and trading among authorized participants. Future assets being considered include Real Estate Receivables Certificates (CRI), and Agribusiness Receivables Certificates (CRA), which represent massive segments of Brazil's fixed-income market. The planned evolution of the platform will also add extra confidentiality mechanisms designed to address privacy requirements within the financial niche. The initial initiative's focus in Brazilian asset institutions are expected to have been designed with the probability of supporting extra asset classes and participants in the future. The model could also probably be expanded to other international markets. Silvio Pegado, managing director of Ripple for Latin America, described the move from pilot and proves the concept to live record-keeping infrastructure within a national capital market as a significant development for the industry. He said the alliance demonstrates how distributed ledger technology can be added into critical financial infrastructure within a governed framework. BTG Pactual is also participating in the initiative, with Luis Cotardo, the bank's partner responsible for market infrastructure, saying the project allows the organization to contribute to applying blockchain technology to the fund market while maintaining a governed infrastructure and the current official record. The first phase therefore keeps CSD BR's established registration and settlement processes intact, while introducing the expected ledger as a transparent blockchain-based peer-to-peer records mirroring and auditing. If the initial implementation is validated, the alliance will move towards wider tokenization and onboarding activity involving additional Brazilian financial assets and authorized market participants.
