About the Job

Requirements

  • A BS in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 12 years of experience, or an MS with 10 years of experience.
  • A solid track record of designing multiple complex intellectual properties with silicon learnings.
  • Ability to execute intellectual-property design and simulation methods, including boundary-condition, stress and reliability, process-voltage-temperature, process-monitor-corner, and safe-operating-area simulations.
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering processes, principles, and methodologies.
  • Strong complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor circuit-design fundamentals and circuit architectures.
  • Ability to clearly articulate issues, challenges, and concerns to all levels of management.
  • Good understanding of charge pumps, low-dropout regulators, gate drivers, comparators, linear regulators, transconductance stages, and other analog building blocks.
  • Strong analog integrated-circuit design skills and ability to debug complex silicon problems using simulations and/or bench testing.
  • Familiarity with advanced bipolar, complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor, and high-voltage bipolar-CMOS-DMOS technology, process, device physics, semiconductor manufacturing processes, and their impact on analog performance.
  • Understanding of power-transistor design, layout, and robustness.
  • Proficiency with leading-edge design and verification tools such as Simplis, MATLAB, and Cadence Spectre for architectural simulations, schematic capture, simulation, layout, and tape-out.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly ramp up on new systems and processes.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions.
  • Ability to take initiative and drive results.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and design analog intellectual-property blocks from definition through intellectual-property delivery, both individually and as an intellectual-property lead.
  • Evaluate intermediate project results during the design phase and silicon evaluation to ensure that technical objectives are achieved.
  • Work with layout engineers, provide guidance for the assigned intellectual-property block, and monitor progress.
  • Collaborate with validation, product engineering, and test engineering teams to enable successful transfer to production.
  • Collaborate with overseas design and systems teams on technical aspects, intellectual-property development, and knowledge sharing.
  • Own the technical outcomes of the design, verification, implementation, and execution of power-management integrated circuits, ranging from simple regulators to complex mixed-signal designs and control loops.
  • Understand project goals, execute to schedule with available resources, track execution against the plan, and monitor progress.

Desired Qualifications

  • Understanding of LED drivers and silicon-carbide or gallium-nitride devices and drivers is a strong plus.
