Responsibilities
  • Lead and conduct airworthiness approvals of Airbus products and product changes with the certificating Authority, and validate those approvals with importing-country Authorities.
  • Manage a varied, multi-ATA and multi-program subject workload in accordance with Customer Services’ business needs and customer expectations while ensuring conformity with certification requirements and Design Organization Approval processes.
  • Coordinate communication and information exchange with the global Certification Team, Customer Aircraft Delivery Team, and other certification functions to maintain consistency in working methods and certification approach.
  • Consult and, when needed, challenge Technical, Change Management, and Certification Specialists to ensure appropriate solutions for varied in-service aircraft configurations and individual single-aisle aircraft certification.
  • Perform airworthiness approvals under Airbus Design Organization Approval privileges, including minor or Certain Major Change modification approval for changes to a Type Certificate, Service Bulletin approval and airworthiness release, Repair & Design Approval Form approval, and Aircraft Design Declaration approval and airworthiness release.
  • Act as the interface to airworthiness authorities for all aspects of certification activities.
  • Support customer acceptance of individual aircraft and acceptance by their local authorities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Nomination as a Designated Airworthiness Engineer or Compliance Verification Engineer is preferred.
  • Experience with Airbus aircraft is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Modification, Service Bulletin, and Repair & Design Approval Form deliverables in the Customer Service business is preferred.
  • Familiarity with In-Service Solutions and Change/Configuration Management is preferred.

Airbus A350F freighter completes maiden flight with 4.3m cargo door for servers

Airbus has successfully completed the first flight of its A350F freighter, bringing the aerospace giant closer to delivering a high-capacity cargo aircraft. The plane took off from Airbus headquarters in Toulouse, France, flying for four hours and ten minutes and reaching 25,000 feet. The A350F can carry a payload of 109 tonnes, compared to 64 tonnes for the existing A330F. It features a 4.3-metre cargo door large enough to accommodate turbofan engines and high-density computer servers. Airbus claims the A350F is more efficient than Boeing's rival 777F, despite having slightly less capacity. The company has already received orders for 115 A350Fs. A second test aircraft is nearly complete as Airbus begins the certification process requiring hundreds of test flights.

Airbus and Qantas back $30M funding for Australian SAF developer Jet Zero

Jet Zero Australia has raised $30 million to advance Project Ulysses, a commercial-scale sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel refinery in Townsville. The funding round was backed by institutional investors including Qantas and Airbus, both returning investors from 2023. South Korean company Posco International joined as a new strategic investor, with the parties exploring opportunities in fuel offtake, infrastructure and feedstock. The capital will fund completion of Front-End Engineering Design and support the project's progress towards Final Investment Decision and construction. Founded in 2021 by Ed Mason, Jet Zero develops biofuels production capacity in regional Australia. The project has received its final Development Permit Decision Notice from Queensland's Office of the Coordinator-General. It is expected to create approximately 1,000 construction jobs and 100 permanent operational roles.

Airbus shelves stricter office return plan after Spanish union strikes

Airbus has postponed its plan to reduce remote working after strikes by Spanish unions, Reuters reports. The aerospace manufacturer will allow employees to continue working from home an average of two days per week, shelving indefinitely a push to limit remote work to one day. Chief Executive Guillaume Faury had sought to require white-collar staff on-site four days weekly by September, citing the need for knowledge transfer. Spanish unions said roughly 40% of Airbus's 14,000 Spanish employees have walked out over remote work policies, transport, leave and wages. An Airbus spokesperson said the company would implement the transition "more gradually" based on employee feedback. French unions estimate a quarter to a third of Airbus's workforce has been hired in the past three years. Aircraft production has not been affected by the disruptions.
