When Do Anduril 2027 Internship Applications Open?

The selected Summer 2027 applications went live in June 2026. They are unusual because each page says the exact role may not be open today: applying puts you into Anduril's pipeline, review starts in August 2026, and a recruiter contacts you when a matching team opens. That makes an early application useful, but it is not a guaranteed interview or immediate team assignment.

The Naval Architect Co-op follows a different calendar. Simplify tracks it for Winter 2027 with a December 2027 through January 2028 graduation window, and its page does not repeat the shared August-review statement. Save the term and role separately, then compare the wider market with Simplify's Summer 2027 internship timeline.

📅
Read “open” precisely. Four Summer pages are active application forms for future matching. Apply early, but do not describe them as confirmed seats on a named team until a recruiter makes that match.

Who Is Eligible for an Anduril Internship?

The current Summer roles share two filters: you must return to school for at least one quarter or semester after the internship, and you must qualify as a U.S. Person for export-controlled work. Degree and experience requirements then change by discipline.

RouteDegree and student statusExtra filterWhat to verify
Software, Electrical, ManufacturingRelevant BS; returning to school for at least one quarter or semesterU.S. Person statusMajor, in-person availability, location, and export-control answers

Graduate applicantsOfficial program accepts master's and PhD candidatesThe selected role still controlsDo not assume every active BS listing accepts every graduate profile

Anduril's official early-careers FAQ says there is no hard minimum GPA, although it commonly sees strong candidates with a cumulative 3.0 or above. That is guidance, not a published cutoff. The same FAQ welcomes master's and PhD candidates, but the exact posting still decides whether a specific role accepts the degree and graduation profile.

💡
U.S. Person does not mean citizen only. Anduril names citizens, lawful permanent residents, protected individuals, and people otherwise eligible for required authorization. It also says it currently cannot sponsor F-1 students. Use the application language for your situation rather than guessing.

What Internships Does Anduril Offer?

Anduril's student work spans software-defined systems and the physical products they control. Pick the discipline where you can show a complete technical decision, not merely relevant coursework.

Software Engineering

Software interns can support deployed systems, build product functionality, create monitoring metrics, debug failures, and coordinate fixes across teams. Useful preparation includes algorithms, data structures, cloud or storage systems, front-end frameworks, and languages such as C++, Go, Rust, Java, or Python. The strongest evidence is code you shipped, measured, and maintained.

Electrical and Embedded Systems

Electrical work can move from component selection and PCB design through embedded firmware, system integration, and lab debugging. Useful evidence includes oscilloscopes or logic analyzers, hardware interfaces, embedded Linux, C/C++, test automation, and a board or subsystem you brought from schematic to verified behavior.

Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

Mechanical interns design and build prototypes, present reviews, analyze failures, execute hardware tests, and transition successful work toward production. Strong evidence combines first-principles calculations, CAD drawings, fabrication, FEA or CFD, test results, and a clear explanation of what changed after a failure.

Manufacturing Engineering

Manufacturing interns can support composite aerospace structures through trade studies, solution design, procurement, implementation, test, and verification. A strong project shows how you balanced producibility, quality, safety, cost, and schedule, then proved the improvement with a built or tested result.

Naval Architecture

Naval architecture work can include AUV hull resistance, internal arrangement, structures, hydrostatics, stability, propulsion, launch and recovery, and producibility. Strong evidence is a self-contained engineering artifact: a trade space, weight and buoyancy budget, structural drawing, stability result, or tested design supported by analysis.

Software Engineering

The work and fit. The current Software Engineer internship supports customer-deployed software, product features, monitoring, debugging, and cross-team delivery across six US hubs. It targets relevant BS students who will return to school after Summer 2027 and lists $40–$55 per hour.

What to prepare. Choose one system where you owned more than syntax. Explain the user or mission problem, architecture, data flow, failure modes, tests, observability, rollout, and measurable result. Be ready to code, reason about data structures, and debug an unfamiliar failure aloud without pretending there is one universal assessment.

Electrical and Embedded Systems

The work and fit. The Electrical Engineer internship covers PCB design, embedded firmware, integration, and debugging across electrical and software boundaries. The current BS route spans six hubs, requires a return to school, and lists $30–$45 per hour.

What to prepare. Bring a board, embedded system, or lab investigation. Walk from requirements through component choices, interfaces, firmware, measurements, and the fault you isolated. Know what the oscilloscope or analyzer showed and how that evidence changed the design.

Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

The work and fit. The Mechanical Engineer internship focuses on prototypes, design reviews, first-principles analysis, hardware tests, and production transition. This posting requires a rising senior enrolled in undergraduate or graduate engineering and lists $30–$45 per hour.

What to prepare. Select a project where geometry, loads, material, manufacturing method, and test all mattered. Show drawings or results through an application website if appropriate, then explain a failed assumption, what you measured, and why the revised design was safer or more effective.

Manufacturing Engineering

The work and fit. The current Manufacturing Engineer internship supports teams building composite aerospace structures. Interns receive scoped problems, run trade studies, design solutions, procure hardware, and verify results. The selected BS route spans five hubs and lists $30–$40 per hour.

What to prepare. Use a fixture, process, quality, tooling, or build project with tangible output. Define the original constraint, your trade study, implementation, and verification. Quantify cycle time, defect rate, cost, throughput, or another measure instead of calling the outcome successful without evidence.

The work and fit. The Naval Architect Co-op supports autonomous underwater vehicle design in Newport Beach. The indexed Winter 2027 route targets relevant BS students graduating around December 2027 to January 2028 and lists $40 per hour.

What to prepare. Bring a trade study or artifact involving resistance, displacement, hydrostatics, stability, structures, propulsion, or arrangement. State the rules and tools used, show assumptions and margins, and explain how the result would inform a real vehicle decision.

What Is the Anduril Internship Experience Like?

Anduril describes its internships as full-time, high-ownership work rather than observation. That makes project scoping, manager access, and the definition of a successful deliverable worth clarifying during interviews.

Experience factorWhat Anduril publishesApplicant implication
Schedule12 weeks, full time, with May-August or June-September startsConfirm you can work in person for the complete term

These are official program features, not a promise about daily hours, team culture, or conversion. Use Anduril's early-careers page for the current program description and ask the recruiter how mentorship, relocation, events, and office expectations work for your particular assignment.

How Hard Is It to Get an Anduril Internship—and What Does It Pay?

Anduril does not publish a verified internship acceptance rate. The visible filters are more useful: degree fit, returning-student status, U.S. Person eligibility, in-person availability, role-specific technical proof, and mission alignment. Mechanical adds a rising-senior filter; Naval Architecture requires a much narrower academic toolkit.

The five selected opportunities list indexed hourly pay from $30 to $55. Software is $40–$55; Electrical and Mechanical are $30–$45; Manufacturing is $30–$40; and Naval Architecture is $40. These are posting-level ranges, not a universal Anduril intern rate or a guarantee of an offer.

How Do I Apply for an Anduril Internship?

  1. Confirm the listing type. Distinguish a Summer advance-interest application from a term-specific co-op and save the expected review timing.
  2. Clear the hard filters. Check degree, return-to-school status, rising-senior language where applicable, in-person availability, U.S. Person eligibility, and sponsorship.
  3. Choose one technical artifact. Match the role with shipped code, a circuit, prototype, manufacturing improvement, or engineering analysis you can defend.
  4. Tailor the application fields. Use the required resume plus the optional website, LinkedIn, and cover-letter fields only when they add concrete role evidence.
  5. Track the match. Save the posting, term, location preference, resume version, submission date, recruiter response, interview stage, and next action.

How Should I Prepare for an Anduril Internship Interview?

Anduril's official process includes a recruiter call, technical and behavioral interviews, and role-specific assessments that may involve live coding, presentations, or deep technical discussions. Treat those as possible formats, not a guaranteed sequence.

  • Software: practice coding and debugging while explaining data structures, system boundaries, tests, monitoring, and trade-offs.
  • Electrical: review circuits, embedded interfaces, firmware, lab tools, and a failure you isolated from measurements.
  • Mechanical and manufacturing: prepare design reviews, first-principles reasoning, fabrication or process choices, tests, and a corrected failure.
  • Naval: be ready to defend hydrostatics, stability, resistance, structures, assumptions, margins, and the engineering artifact you produced.
  • Behavioral and mission fit: explain why this work matters to you, how you take ownership under uncertainty, and how you handle safety, disagreement, urgency, and incomplete information without turning the answer into a slogan.

Anduril Internship FAQ

Is it hard to get an Anduril internship?

Anduril does not publish a verified acceptance rate. The process is selective because applicants must clear degree, student-status, export-control, location, and role-specific technical requirements. A complete project you can defend is stronger than a generic list of technologies.

Do Anduril interns get paid?

Yes. The five selected opportunities verified July 31, 2026 list $30–$55 per hour. The exact band depends on the role: Software reaches $55, while current hardware and manufacturing ranges start at $30.

When do Anduril internship applications open?

The selected Summer 2027 applications opened in June 2026 and say reviews begin in August 2026. Applying now enters the matching pipeline; it does not guarantee that an exact team seat is already open.

What is the easiest way to get an Anduril internship?

There is no shortcut. Choose the discipline whose eligibility rules you meet and show one finished technical artifact that resembles its work. Make your decisions, tests, failures, and individual contribution easy to verify.

Does Anduril require a minimum GPA for internships?

Anduril's official FAQ says there is no hard minimum GPA, although it commonly sees strong candidates with a cumulative 3.0 or higher. The role's other eligibility and technical requirements still apply.

Can international or F-1 students apply for Anduril internships?

Current selected roles require U.S. Person status for export-controlled work, and Anduril's official FAQ says it currently cannot sponsor F-1 students. U.S. Person eligibility includes more than citizenship alone, so use the official categories and answer the application accurately.
