Morgan Stanley's US 2027 Technology and Operations Summer Analyst programs are open, while branch Wealth Management and off-cycle internships follow different calendars. Choose the recruiting pipeline and graduation window first, then use the firm's limited application allowance on roles your experience can actually support.

What You Should Know About Morgan Stanley Internships

  • There is more than one recruiting pipeline. The Campus portal carries structured Summer Analyst programs; Workday also carries rolling branch and off-cycle internships.
  • Applications are a budget. In the Americas, candidates may submit three Intern programs per recruitment year, separate from three full-time and three off-cycle opportunities.
  • The evidence changes by division. Technology needs systems or analytics proof, Operations needs process and control judgment, and client or investment teams need role-specific financial reasoning.

Are Morgan Stanley Summer 2027 Internships Open?

Yes—but not as one companywide release. Morgan Stanley's official Campus portal currently lists four US Technology Summer Analyst programs and two US Operations Summer Analyst programs for 2027. The Technology locations are New York, Menlo Park, Chicago, and Alpharetta; Operations is open in New York and Baltimore.

These six programs were verified on Morgan Stanley's official Campus portal but were not yet present in Simplify's current company inventory. That is why they are linked separately rather than mixed into the live Simplify module. Use the official page for the final graduation window, work-authorization language, and deadline.

📅
Do not treat one date as a firmwide deadline. The New York Operations page lists August 15, 2026 and rolling review; Baltimore says rolling review without the same printed date. Technology and other divisions can use different windows.

Which Morgan Stanley Internship Should I Apply For?

Start with the work product, not the prestige of the division name. The right route is the one where your coursework, project, internship, or extracurricular work already resembles a real team output.

Technology

Technology Summer Analysts join application development, enterprise engineering, or business and data analytics teams. Show code, testing, deployment, and system trade-offs—or how you converted a business question into requirements, analysis, and a decision. Finance experience is not required for the current program.

Operations

Operations connects transaction capture, clearance, settlement, account opening, cash management, billing, fraud monitoring, controls, and process change. Strong proof is a workflow improvement with a defined bottleneck, risk, stakeholder set, intervention, and measurable outcome. The current Summer Analyst programs accept all majors.

Wealth Management

Branch Wealth Management internships combine market research, marketing or sales support, and exposure to client financial needs. Strong proof is a clear recommendation that explains the evidence, respects the audience, and handles sensitive information carefully.

Investment Management and Off-Cycle

Investment Management and off-cycle roles can cover real assets, sustainability, portfolio information, due diligence, reporting, and investor communication. Strong proof is a research memo, thesis, model, or data-quality project that makes assumptions and limits visible rather than presenting a conclusion without support.

Investment Banking, Markets, and Research

These businesses cover advisory and capital raising, sales and trading, and company or market research. Recruiting timing varies by region and program. Apply only when the exact opportunity is open and prepare the technical finance, market, writing, or quantitative evidence named by that requisition.

Technology

Current 2027 route. The official US Technology program runs for ten weeks and places interns into development, enterprise engineering, or business and data analytics teams. The New York and Alpharetta pages target relevant bachelor's or master's students graduating around December 2027 through May or June 2028; Chicago extends through June 2029. All list a 3.0 GPA minimum.

What to show. For engineering, explain one system's architecture, testing, deployment, and a failure or trade-off. For analytics, show the business question, clarified requirements, what the data supported, and the resulting action. A finance-themed project is unnecessary when a stronger technical project exists.

Operations

Current 2027 route. New York and Baltimore offer ten-week Operations programs beginning in June. Both target bachelor's students graduating from December 2027 through June 2028, require a 3.0 GPA, and encourage all majors. The current pages also require US work authorization without present or future sponsorship for those specific roles.

What to show. Use a process example with a real control or service consequence. Explain the starting problem, where risk entered, which stakeholders mattered, how you measured improvement, and when you escalated instead of optimizing blindly.

Wealth Management

Current rolling route. Most verified Simplify openings are branch-based Fall 2026 internships rather than the Campus Summer Analyst program. The selected roles in Kansas City, Burlington, Pasadena, Long Beach, and Dallas can run for up to ten months. They require a high school diploma and generally prefer candidates pursuing college; one Pasadena posting also prefers English/Spanish ability.

What to show. Bring a client-ready market brief, financial education project, service improvement, or recommendation. Show careful research and clear communication without giving advice beyond your knowledge. Indexed pay is $16.50/hour in Burlington and Long Beach and $20/hour in Dallas.

Investment Management and Off-Cycle

Current off-cycle route. The selected Real Assets Sustainability internship in New York is designed for an initial four months and lists $35/hour. It targets candidates who recently completed an undergraduate or graduate program related to sustainability, environmental science, business, real estate, or a similar field.

What to show. The work connects sustainability due diligence, data quality, asset-level initiatives, and reporting. A useful sample would evaluate a real-estate sustainability question, document source quality, distinguish evidence from assumptions, and make a concise recommendation.

Investment Banking, Markets, and Research

Timing boundary. Do not infer that a US Summer 2027 front-office internship is open because Technology and Operations are open. Morgan Stanley recruits by program and region; the official global board should control availability. Save an application for this family only when a matching program, location, and graduation window are visible.

What to show and prepare. Investment Banking evidence may include valuation, transaction analysis, or an industry view; Markets may emphasize probability, products, and current events; Research may require a clear thesis and writing sample. Technical finance preparation belongs here when the exact role requires it—not in every Morgan Stanley interview.

What Is a Morgan Stanley Internship Actually Like?

The experience is not uniform. Current Technology and Operations Summer Analyst programs are ten-week, team-based programs with orientation, training, networking, and project work. Branch Wealth Management roles can extend up to ten months and center on local business interactions, market research, and client-support work. The verified Real Assets role is a four-month off-cycle placement.

That difference matters for work-life balance. No official source publishes one intern-hours promise, so ask about expected hours, office schedule, team coverage, and peak periods for the exact role instead of relying on a companywide rating.

How Hard Is It to Get a Morgan Stanley Internship—and What Does It Pay?

Morgan Stanley does not publish a reliable companywide internship acceptance rate. The useful selection filters are visible: graduation window, GPA where specified, location, authorization terms on the exact role, division fit, and the quality of your evidence. The three-program limit in the Americas makes an unfocused application especially expensive.

Verified Simplify roles currently expose hourly rates from $16.50 to $35. Some branch roles do not expose pay, and the separate official 2027 Campus programs are not in the current Simplify inventory, so this guide does not merge or convert their compensation into the live range.

How Do I Apply for a Morgan Stanley Internship?

  1. Choose the recruiting pipeline. Use the Campus portal for structured student programs and the current company inventory for branch or off-cycle roles. Do not assume one portal contains every opening.
  2. Build a three-application portfolio. In the Americas, rank your strongest Intern programs by fit. Reserve each choice for a credible combination of division, location, graduation window, and evidence.
  3. Check eligibility line by line. Confirm degree, graduation date, GPA, work authorization, location, and term on the exact page before tailoring.
  4. Match one proof point to the work. Lead with a system, process improvement, client recommendation, or investment analysis that resembles the team's output and states your contribution and result.
  5. Track the submission. Save the portal, program, requisition, deadline, resume version, application date, and next step. Rolling programs can move before a displayed date.
💡
In America, nine does not mean nine internships. Morgan Stanley separates the annual allowance into three Full-time programs, three Intern programs, and three Off Cycle programs. Treat the three internship choices as scarce slots.

How Should I Prepare for a Morgan Stanley Internship Interview?

Morgan Stanley's official interview guidance says every interview is different. Depending on the role, questions may be competency-based, strengths-based, skills-based, or technical. Know every line of your resume, why the division fits, what the job entails, and one or two current industry topics you can discuss with evidence.

  • Technology: practice code, systems or analytics reasoning, then explain a project's trade-offs and result.
  • Operations: prepare a process, risk, control, or stakeholder example with a measurable outcome.
  • Wealth Management: connect market knowledge and client communication to a careful, audience-appropriate recommendation.
  • Investment Management: defend a thesis, source choice, model, limitation, and conclusion.
  • Investment Banking, Markets, or Research: prepare role-specific finance, markets, quantitative, or writing work only where the program asks for it.

Do not memorize a universal HireVue or Superday script. Read the program description, practice concise stories from jobs, coursework, projects, and extracurriculars, and make your reasoning visible when a question does not have one perfect answer.
